Charleston, SC Here We Come

We are heading to Charleston, SC for a week on Friday, 10/9. We are planning our stay at the Oaks Plantation RV Park. James Island is full.

I think you will enjoy Oaks Plantation RV Park. We stayed there three years ago. Very nice people and a nice quiet park. It is a little bit of a trip into Charleston proper but if you avoid rush hour traffic moves pretty good.

We stayed at the Lake Aire campground early in the year. Very nice, clean and wide open and it is a Passport America park. Very pleasant and accommodating staff.

It is about 8 mi west of Charleston.

Good to hear you liked Lake Aire. I have booked at this campsite for the first week of February.

Bob, you and Brenda have to visit Folley Beach for either lunch or dinner. There is a real nice place called Folleys Hideaway, off the main drag about 2 blocks. We ate there about 6 years ago and the food was great, good seafood, and the prices was reasonable! Folley Beach is just south of Charleston off rte 17.

On the subject of eats. There is a restaurant in Charleston called Justines. Our tour guy told us it was a well kept secret of the locals. Justine was a slave and her owners thought so much of her that they set her up with her own place (fried chicken). Well, she has since died and we found out why it is a well kept secret. About two steps below KFC in quality.

On the up side, my wife is such a great cook that it is hard for me to recommend places to eat but I do untie her from the stove once in a while!

Bob, when you and Brenda go out to eat make sure you go to Gilligans, very close to you at Plantation Oaks.
If you go out to Folly Beach stop at the Crab Shak.Good seafood and plenty of it.
Don't confuse with the Charleston Crab Trap on the river. Their sign is upside down, food is too pricey.

Hope your trip is going well, if you need anymore suggestions PM me.

And don't forget to see The Angel Oak Tree. It is over 1400 years old.

Hey, thanks to all for the information you have provided!! John & Sharon (sailor) arrived today. Due to my not checking in on the forum regularly, we are very pleased they arrived today and we spent time together this afternoon!
