Unlimited Verizon Data Goodbye Mellenicom

I'm an ex Mellenicom customer that just switched to Verizon for the extra $10/mo. On one of the RV Blogs I follow (http://www.watsonswander.com) the writer, also an ex Mellenicom customer, wrote about acquiring a grandfathered Verizon unlimited data account via an Assumption of Liability (AOL). This peaked my interested so I did a bit of googling and it seems to be a valid method of getting an unlimited plan for less than the new Verizon 20GB plan. The catch is it requires a Verizon contract rather than month to month.

I did exactly what she did except I'm waiting for a buddy to bring by a Verizon smart phone tomorrow so I can run to town and get a new SIM and take advantage of my newly acquired unlimited plan. Once that's live I'll be canceling my 20GB account.

The bad news is this needs to be done by Nov 13 as Verizon will force all those trying to assume a grandfathered account out of the unlimited plan. PM me if you want more info or can't find anything of value on google try "Verizon assumption of liability unlimited data".

I'm glad I bought my most recent phone from Verizon so I could keep my unlimiited data plan with no contract. Right now the wi-fi is out where we are so I am using the the phone with foxfi as my hotspot to get on the web.

I follow the Escapees forum and they indicate that Verizon has stopped the ability to assume the contract from someone else.

You might buy something that has no value.

Also, some companies like Sprint still offer unlimited Data but try to get coverage anywhere you camp.
