Coming back from Myrtle Saturday night fueled in SC at I-95, 38 crossing at $4.01 per gallon, Wytheville, Va. was at $4.04. Got back to WV and price is at $4.39. At least I still have a half tank of the cheap stuff!!

Here in Northern KY diesel is now $3.98/gal at the Flying Jerk. Regular unleaded can be had for $3.52/gal if you get away from I75. Looking better?

It dropped another 5 cents. Got a tank full for $3.839. Down the street it was $4.149. Ten miles away, it was $4.399. It is crazy.

Saw the sign in Texas City, TX for $3.999 today. Just might have to put some in the tank and wait for another drop.

Well, you winter Texans will love the drop here in the valley. It is down to $4.08 in San Benito. It is higher on Padre Island by 20 cents at some stations. Sure hope it keeps dropping.

Noted that diesel is for the most part at the 4.00 or a bit below mark..at least it is not going up..it is now at the level it was on our trip up from Florida in April of this year but still .70 more than it was when we started south in November of 07. Hope the slide continues as we budgeted 5.00 per gallon for our trip to Florida in October. That is a today savings of @ 120.00 for the down trip..Insignificant to some perhaps but a lot to us.

We left Gettysburg this past Thursday, 8/21. Gettysburg apparently didn't get the memo about dropping prices. Prior to Wednesday afternoon, diesel there was 4.699. Thursday afternoon it finally dropped to 4.499.

The Flying J website shows EVERY Flying J in California sells ULSD cheaper than does Gettysburg! And the Flying J in Kansas City, MO is at 3.919.

We arrived Thursday near Kinzers, PA and took a trip yesterday to Valley Forge. Near Kinzers, in a small place called Gap, PA we found a truck stop with diesel (ULSD is what we require) at 4.039 cash price or 4.139 credit price. We still had better than half a tank but took advantage and filled up. The majority of other stations we saw were either 4.399 or 4.499 or higher. We found two at 4.239. Fortunately, the station at 4.039 is the one closest to us.

It's really sad when 4.039 is something to get excited about.

Diesel was $4.209 at Sam's Club in Palm Desert, CA. That's with a .05 cent discount using Sam's Club Card and Discover.

It may keep going down until some critters get the gitters. I am on I-80 going west to Denver from Michigan. Diesel prices vary from $3.93 to $4.27.

Jumping up and down, it is $3.95 here in San Benito right now at one station. Gustav is headed to the Gulf.....prices will probably be going up.

We filled up yesterday when the price was $4.07.
