Advice Solicitation

We will be in the Orlando area beginning 9 Apr for about three weeks. We would like to have some TV cable run for an outdoor hookup and some electrical hookup run for the same. Also would like to have an electric awning (Carefree Traveler Arms) installed.

I am looking for advice on a RV repair shop that has a better than good reputation that I may contact to do the work I am wanting to do. OR If any MOC members in the area that would like to take on the wiring project, let me know. Don't mind compensating for expert service.

I will have to order the electric awning arms from Carefree before arriving in Clermont, but need some solid advice.

Come on MOC'ers, I know I can count on you.

Phil,
I'm not sure on the 2006 model, but the 2007 and 2008 model 3400rl had a tv connector, a 110v outlet, and a 12v outlet just inside the basement on the top left hand side. What's with the 2006 model.

The 2006's didn't have this option.

Time to buy?????

I think the easiest way would to put in a splitter in the BR, after the amplifier, and route the cable down through the basement. The 110 is I different matter and I'm not familiar with the 2006 model. The 2007-8 model had 110 in the basement and also on a GFI wall plate on the outside of the basement.

Probably the easy way for the 110 would be from the bathroom/lavatory area, down the wall into the basement.

Travel up through Littlestown, PA and get John to help you - he's good at that.

Sorry John, just couldn't resist getting you involved.

Good luck

Wayne, I appreciate your input, but I am trying to get this done in Florida, before we start our trip up the coast, hence my request for Good RV Repair shop in Clermont or Orlando area. Thanks for your assistance and advice...

I did a search in the Maintenance Section of the forum and there were good reports on the Camping World in Orlando.
(Not my reference, just from others.)
Hope this helps.

Phil, I've used CW in Tampa for Reese Hitch installation, tow bar installation and other jobs. So far so good.
HOWEVER I called this week to see about a brake inspection for a NEV-R-LUBE axle. The service writer had never heard of a NEV-R-LUBE axle and insisted that the bearings had to be repacked. I now chose to go elsewhere.

Phil,
If you don't get a response from someone who has had experience in that area, try a Google search on

orlando, fl, keystone dealer

What you are asking to have done is not really a big deal, but knowing where the circuits are would help and a Keystone dealer should have technicians with that knowledge. Just check everything out after the work is completed.

Good luck.

Phil,

We had a 2006 3400, and I drilled a hole in the front basement wall (propane compartment) and installed a cable plate. I attached an RG6 cable to this plate and then routed up from the propane compartment to just into the bathroom cabinet. Then this piece of cable was routed through the carpeted end of the square iron tube that supports the rear of the dresser drawer. Pushing the cable to the end of this square iron tube toward the drawers below the bedroom TV, it felt like it stopped just short of the stacked drawers. I cut the carpet about 3 inches to the rear of the stacked drawers and drilled a hole through the plywood and the top of the square iron tube. With a pair of pliers, I grabbed the cable and pulled it up.

I chamfered the plywood (by drilling it out) towards the stacked drawers. After pulling out the bottom drawer, I continued to drill horizontally until I came through behind the stacked drawer trim next to the passenger wall. Then, it was a simple matter of pulling the cable up and drilling a hole in the TV cabinet. When I glued the bit of carpet down, where it came up from the square tube, the install was not noticeable.

All told, it took me about an hour to accomplish with rudimentary tools on hand, while in an RV park in Colorado.

Phil Mail2us Dennis, who loves in Clermont may have some information on a good repair place. Camping Connection in Kissimmee is highly regarded. www.campingconnectionrv.com the CW in Kissimmee does a lot of Rv work but do not know if they are good or not

Rich, Thanks for the good lead. I will contact Dennis and see what he has to say. Will you and Helen still be in the area from 9-29 April? Will anyone, that you know of? Would like to get together if possible....

Phil, sorry for the delayed response. We have been at a Fla. State park with no computers for about 5 days. I noticed Rich indicated that Dennis Loves in Clermont!! I also live there...

There is a Montana dealer (Suncoast RV) in Winter Garden on Highway 50 just before entering Orlando. I wish I could recommend a dealer but having purchased our Montana out of state, I still choose to have work done out of state. I thought you were at 1000 campground on Highway 27. If you are you may want to consider Camping World too, just about 20 miles from you on rt. 192 Kissimmee. Again I can't give you a good recommendation... Dennis

Phil.. we are very near the CW at 192 in Kissimmee. I note there are always a lot of units there for repair so My guess is they would be backed up for repair/ You might want to check that out.. We are also very near RV connection which is also on 192 in Kissimmee. If you choose one of those places you may want to consider staying here at our campground for a few days because it is very near both.. There is plenty of room now..
