Greasing Landing Gears

When I had my landing gears torn apart, I noticed there was no way to get grease to the gearing of the landing gear. After looking things and wondering how can to grease them??? I decided to drill a couple of holes at the gear points. The two (2) gearing locations are 5" and 11-1/2" from the top of post. I drilled one (1) small holes at each point for the grease spray tube. Just a small shot periodically, not to much. Hope this helps.

On my 05 and 10 Montana units, all I had to do with the landing gear legs was pop off cap on the top of each leg, pump in grease, and replace the cap. Gravity would work the grease farther down the legs.

My way puts the grease where you want it and not hoping it gets there working its way down the shaft where it is not needed, only on the gear teeth themselves. Also, not needing as much, just a shot now and then.

Took a look at both of my landing gear legs inside the propane door. Both of the legs had zerk fittings on them facing forward and a couple of inches from the top.
These had to be factory installed as the PO only used the trailer once and was clueless.

Some Replacement assemblies came with zerk fittings, unlike the OEM.

These are not replacements. The PO used the trailer one time in 2011 and put it under a cover in a storage lot. That is where I bought it in April this year.

Interesting, never had zerks on our 02/05/or10. 15 has the six point leveling system, so would be interesting to see if the later models without leveling systems come with zerk..
