c214dick Montana Master Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: Winthrop Harbor Posts: 1,831 M.O.C. #8160	The older Dodge short beds are about 6" longer than the newer ones. I had a 2001 short bed 2500 that I traded for a long bed. Even though I had a sliding hitch in the 2001 I never had to use it. Even when jacknifed it cleared the rear of the cab.
