Maine to Florida

I can get myself from Canada to I495 around Boston. Could I have help with the route from there to Orlando while not having to drive thru NYC, Philly or DC. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

The only way is 95s thru maine-nh then 495s to either 290 west into Worcester then on mass pike at exit 10 west to exit 9 which is 84 west to scranton pa then 81 south all the way to virginia and then 64 east to 95 or 295 south. It's the long way but if you hate traffic this is the only option I feel ..but I am sure someone else will have another opnion. I live in mass and when I took vacation I took 95 south over GW BRIDGE at 0430 and had no traffic then NJ T-PIKE to 13 south and the chesapeke bay bridge . I hate the long way so I travel early am and usually beat traffic..........someday I'll be able to take the long way and be ok with it.

My preference...and it's only my opinion...would be to route over from 95 to 84 to I-80 to US22 to I-81 to 77 to 26 and then back to 95 in Georgia. The drive is much nicer and you have a lot of Flying J and other truck stops. I just listed the major routes you will have to map it out. Put in Harrisburg, Pa and Fort Chiswell, Va into Mapquest and see the actual route. Once you get into the Va area you will have a lot of Campground open year round to over-night. I don't like the NY, Baltimore and Washington areas to pull through. Good Luck! Have a safe trip!

I agree with Steves, I ran that area many time when driving a Truck. I always stayed away from the NY city and Boston area as much as possible. GBY.....

This past summer we went to Maine from Pa. I picked up 80e in NJ to 287 then 87 to 90e to 495n to 95n. I was a little worried about 287, but it was too bad. To FL. from Pa we go, 78w to 81s to 64e to 288 to 95s. 288 comes out below Richmond Va. on 95

Don't be scared of going 95 through NYC. We travel that way over the George Washington bridge to the Jersey Turnpike when we go to the Jersey shore and have never had a problem.

Jim;

We also will be traveling to Florida in January. What I found is to go through the busy areas early and on the weekend. No traffic
