usb720 Modem

We have a usb720 Modem from Verizion. I would like to put an external antenna on it. I know it can be done because Verizion will sell you one for $30 including the adapter to plug the antenna into the modem. Called them today and they could not even tell me what the gain (db) was on the antenna..
Has anyone out there used an external antenna on the usb?
Any information would be helpful..

I have gone from -77dBm to -87dBm with the Wilson external antenna. So I would say about 9 to 10 dBm gain which is about eight times the gain. 3 dBm = twice the signal so 9/3 = 3 exponential therefore 2x2x2 = eight times stronger. Remember the higher the antenna the better the signal reception also.
I do use the USB 727 modem.

We bought the one that Verizon sold for our 720 but later added the Wilson Truck antenna to it. It worked great but have since upgraded to the USB 175 that also works with a $13.00 Verizon antenna plugged into it. If you are looking to find what the Verizon one does, I would say that it is well worth the cost but first check out 3Gstore.com. They will have all the correct answers
