What a very disheartening article.

I'm going to have a good look at the labels the next time I buy.

Thanks.

Dang!
I wish there was a web site where you could summit the name of the brand of dog food you use, and get a "opinion fact sheet" on it.

There is a lot of not to's to feed your dogs, but what is a good brand of dogs food

The only comfort I have, is no where in the article was the name of the brand of dog food that we feed our two little gals.

Thanks for the heads up! Or is it, tails down!

Also, some may be interested in this recipe:

KAYKOHL LAND'S HOMEMADE DIET FOR GERMAN SHEPHERDS:
(Modified from the original Satin Ball Recipe)

Ingredients

15 pounds raw hamburger meat, I use 27% fat
1 lg. box of Total cereal (2lbs)
1 lg. box oatmeal (uncooked)
1 small jar/bag of wheat germ
1 1/4 cup veg oil
1 1/2 cup of unsulfured molasses
18 raw eggs AND shells
12 envelopes of Knox Joint Gelatin (or regular unflavored if preferred)
2 tsp of salt
2 tsp of garlic
3/4 cup flaxseed oil
2 cup grated carrots
2 cup canned Pumpkin

Mix all ingredients together, much like you would a meatloaf.

Divide into freezer bags, about 1 lb each and freeze. Thaw and feed raw.

I add a heaping spoonful of cottage cheese and/or vanilla yogurt (with live cultures) when I feed it.

Once in a while I will substitute a couple pounds of raw ground turkey for hamburger, or a pound or two of raw chopped liver for hamburger.

To add variety a RAW chicken leg, thigh, or wing is good to give now and then. Bone and all. I do this once or twice a week.

Large RAW beef bones should be given at least twice a week every week. These can be purchased at the grocery store or from your local butcher. They are okay to give frozen, and less messy. I let the dogs eat these in their crates or on the porch.

Every dog has a different metabolism and activity level. Finding the right amount to feed is the key. Start off with about 1 lb per day and go from there.

Make sure all meat has been previously frozen before feeding.
