Winter Trip

Camprounds we experienced on our winter trip South w/new 5th Wheel -
October 11 - March 25th.

1. I 35 RV Campground, Eagleville, MO. $15 nite. Nothing fancy but
neat, clean level pull thru sites. Ltd. cable. Lr area for dogs.
2. Sooners Corner, Perry, OK. $12 nite. Some hookups out of order,
semi's going thru RV area, ruts, no cable and noisey.
3. Quail Crossing RV Park, Waco, TX. $18 nite. 10 miles from I 35, off beaten path , not easy to find, neat clean, pull thru sites. Cable
4. Shady Oaks RV Park, Buchanan Dam, TX. $180 mo.(Sites on Inks River are $210 mo.) elect. 08 kwh. No phone, ltd cable. Here for 1 month. Lovely rural area in Texas Hill Country. Deer (some hand feed), turkey & turkey vultures run , fly free among campsites. Sites are level, no patios, lots of shade trees. Too far out. Closest shopping area of fair size is Marble Falls about 40 miles.
5. Lonesome Dove RV Ranch, Tel Rio, TX $120 wk. Here for 2 weeks.
Note: see final entry.
6. KOA, Ft. Stockton, TX, exit 264. $22 nite. NO cable, phone. Clean level pull thru sites.
7. El Paso West RV Park, Anthony, NM. exit 264 or exit O Tx. $210 mo.,elect. .14 kwh. 9 cable stations, pull thru, some patios, not too level. Needs maintenance. OK for 1 or 2 nites, but longer than that one is constantly fighting flies from Dairy Farm about 3 blks away.
8. Benson I-10, Benson, AZ. exit 304. $21 nite. Very nice, neat clean newer level pull thrus w/patios.
9. B-10 Campground, Quartzsite, AZ. $22 nite. No sewer, (dump) elec & water only. No cable & antenna didn't bring stations in. Level, gravel pull thur sites. Groceries very limited & expensive. They gotcha for the big Flea Mkt.
10. A & M RV Park, Ft. Stockton, TX. exit 261. $10 nite. Level pull thru sites, Cable. Nothing special. OK for overnite.
11. Lonesome Dove RV Ranch, Del Rio, TX. $225 mo.
($200 for 6 mo.) Here for 2 mo. Elec. .13kwh, phone hook ups at sites. A true Oasis in the Desert! About 50 large, wide, long, level pull thru sites w/patios & picnic tables, privacy fences, shade trees, 72 cable stations, WIFI, game room and mess hall where coffee pot is always on & owner provides the meat for Friday Pot Lucks. Mail and local newspaper delivered to mail box @ site. We liked it very much and will spend all of next winter there. Infact we will be storing under roof & security the Monty in Del Rio for $40 mo and they will deliver & set it up on the site for us.

In all the parks we found most people to be friendly and helpful to us newbies. Well behaved dogs were welcomed too.

John doesn't like backing up so pull thrus were a prioity.

We found we didn't like "park hopping" and would rather stay in one place for at least a month.

Only counted 17 Montanas and no one returned our light signal. Think that must be an eastern thing.

Hope the above wasn't too long and helpful.

Marianne
