North East Rally Dump Cobbler

As requested, here is the dump cobbler that was devoured at the NE rally 2011.

12 inch dutch oven(8 quart)
aluminum pan liner(easier cleanup)
2 cans of peach pie filling
2 cans of peaches
1/2 stick of butter
2 boxes of yellow cake mix
1 16oz bottle of 7-up

Spray the aluminum foil liner with PAM.
Dump the 4 cans of peaches into the aluminum liner, add the 2 boxes of yellow cake, pour in the 7-up, slice the butter and add it around the top of the mixture.

I baked this on the BBQ for 40 minutes on low, or until a tooth pick comes out clean.

Here is a video from youtube on how to make it:

I also have the dutch oven dome & defusserhttp://www.campchef.com/dutch-oven-dome.html the dome keeps the heat in and the diffuser keep the bottom from burning.

If you have a smaller dutch oven, you can adjust the ingredients.

Thanks for posting the cobbler recipe, sounds good and I will try it soon. I like cooking with a dutch oven, but desserts are the only thing I make with it. My daughter and her two sons are in Scouts and on camping trips, they do all their cooking in dutch ovens and I am sure she will want one of the dome kits.

Thanks for sharing. Will get in the attic today and drag down the cast iron dutch oven. Have located the parts I need on the web site. It was the hit at the desert table for sure. It was soooo good. Now if we can just get those Splendide's on sale....

You really don't have to make it on a dutch oven(DO) it can be made in a conventional oven too, in a regurlar pan. But when camping, on the grill or using charcoal keeps the camper from getting too hot.

Cindy, maybe we can get a group rate on the Splendide's. ). Also check out Amazon for the parts. If you are looking for the dutch oven dome & defusser, both come as a kit. Here is the kit from Amazon:

Also, here are the aluminum liners, no mess, and no cleanup too:

That stuff was terrible. I felt obligated to eat as much as I could so others wouldn't have to suffer through it.

Jim, I know what you mean, I had to eat the last serving right as we got home so Sharon wouldn't have to eat it.)

John, thanks for posting the picture, it really did look good!!!

I don't think that was nice of H John to post a picture. In fact, I think it was downright cruel. My mouth is watering and I am looking at one of my favorite anything-with-peaches types of desserts.

That looks awesome and I'm NOT THERE! Like Jim, I'll be glad to help save people from such misery. I'll bring the vanilla ice cream, milk and coffee but I'll eat that cobbler.

We're gonna have to break out our Dutch oven. Wait! We don't have one. ARRGGHH!

Art,

I'm sure you could cook the cobbler in a regular pan with a lid.

I use the BBQ because it was a warm day, so I didn't want to use the oven and make the camper hotter. And besides, it look neater in a dutch oven.

Amazon sells everything you would need. ) but dont get the 12 inch, get the 10", the 12" is a but too big.

LOL, good catch John, but I meant a bit too big. And yes, eating the cobbler too much will definitely give you a big butt!!!

We are going to try one next weekend using blueberries instead of peaches, although the peach one at the Rally will be hard to beat.
