Got a date for Total Hip Replacement!

If I can get all the pre op things done before Thursday I will be getting a new hip on Thursday October 9. We did some research and found a hip specialist in the Los Angeles area. It is actually only a hundred miles from our home. We're used to long distance driving out here in the west.

I appreciate all the folks who have previously replied regarding their experiences with this issue. If all goes as it should I'm looking for some major pain relief.

The doctor told me I was years overdue for this process. The problem was that my back pain masked the problem with the hip. Otherwise I'd have had this done several years ago.

Again thank you for your well wishes.

Dennis

Hi Dennis, That is great that you were able to find another Doc who could do your hip so much sooner. Good luck with yours and we'll be thinking of you.

I have my right hip replaced on Wednesday October 8th. I was going to PM you and let you know how it was going, but now you'll be right behind me. At my pre-op class the Orthopedic nurse encouraged me to bring my laptop to the hospital, so I'll PM you and we can compare notes. I had to stop my anti-inflamatory meds a week before surgery and I sure feel it today.

Thanks again to everyone! I really appreciate all your posts. Both Mary Kay and I were impressed with the doctor and the overall operation that these folks have going. If you're interested my doctor's website is: http://www.hipsandknees.com

He has done a lot of hip replacements and seemed to know the answer to our questions before we could even ask them!

Don,

Wow! We'll both be in at almost exactly the same time. Guess we'll have to do a lot of comparing. Here's wishing you the very best. Hopefully we'll both be up and running around in no time flat! Well, at least walking. Sure looking forward to being able to drive the rig again and enjoy meeting all our current and new MOC friends. Don I'l ask about taking the old laptop to the hospital. Who knows..... I might just be able to make some posts while still there. Thanks for the wishes and the computer idea.

Dennis

Take care and be sure to do the rehab the way they tell you. Stay on that diet.
BTW you missed some great crabbing. Will fill you in at Q.

*Oh my*..... I am so happy that you might have a solution to getting up and walking around. Here's hoping that at the next Lake Siskiyou rally you can be up and walking the circle of Montanas with me.

I'll keep you in my prayers.

What hospital will you be at?

Margee.

Margee,

The operation will be in the Presbyterian Hospital in Tarzana. The doctor is a hip and knee specialist. He said I should have had the operation years ago. I suspect the reason we did not recognize the hip as the problem is because of the back pain I have. Apparently the hip pain is often confused as back pain.

I look forward to our walks around the circle! Wouldn't that be great!

Thanks for the good thoughts.

Dennis
