Internet vs. Satellite TV

I want to like to take the money for a Slimline DirecTV antenna and expand my Internet access to handle the Monty's entertainment. If this is possible.

If I hooked up a certain Ranger, Craddlepoint, or SOB wireless router to my Verizon USB card, I could get better campground WiFi and wireless 3G/4G.

I have a ASUS Transformer, laptop, and a Samsung TV running through my Internet ready Samsung BluRay player. I can sign up to either Hulu Plus, NetFlix, or SOB and get TV episodes and movies on my devices.

Will the USB modem, which is receiving a good 3G signal, consistently play Hulu Plus/NetFlix shows and movies or do I need to be in a 4G area? Problems? Are campground WiFi's getting better to handle TV episodes and movies on these services?

Advice and recommendations please? Thanks, Joe

You're not always guaranteed a better signal by hooking your USB card to a router, and campground wifi systems aren't always the fastest connections available.

More importantly, the data cap on Verizon could put a serious crimp in your program watching. I'd probably stick with satellite and/or a lot of prerecorded shows.

Agree with Bob. Think you will go over you limit in a hurry. We are Grandfathered in with the Verizon Unlimited data, but was told early on if we streaming video or audio we would get a warning and if continued we would be turned off. Even with a good 3G signal, things like You Tube videos and others will still stop and start while buffering. We bit the bullit and had the Winegard Travlr Slim-Line installed. Love it, so far only a few places when under trees were we out of luck. Also many CGs now offer Satellite Friendly sites. Good luck what ever way you decide to go.
