I have one of those big, 170 lb Lifeline AGM batteries that takes the place of my two deep cycle batteries that came standard. I installed one of those marine rotating battery cut-off switches. Also, Keystone had two of those fuses that are metal with lugs on both ends (not sure of exact name). I took those off and installed some of those fancy fuse blocks that custom car stereo shops use for the high amp installs. Now, mine uses those easy to find Maxi fuses, 50 amp and 30 amp.

FWIW, my 2006 2955 came with a battery disconnect switch, but it doesn't disconnect everything. The landing gear still works with the battery switch in the off position. Anybody know if it's designed that way, or is it a mistake in the wiring?

I am attempting to install a perko battery kill switch in my Montana.
Does anyone know if it is ok to use a heavier guage battery cable from the positive side of the battery to the switch?
I have a #2 guage red cable that already has the lugs on each end.
Someone said you should use a #6 guage, or heavier, wire. I just wanted to make sure the #2 guage wouldn't be Too heavy.
The cable is about 4 ft long.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

it's designed that way, your'e Ok.
Heavier would be fine. Heavy wire=lower resistance. That's good. Just make sure the nuts are tight.

I'm still curious about the battery kill switch (key) in the new shore station not shutting off the power to the landing gear??? Any confirmation on that? And if so, is there anything else that the red key does not shut off power to?
When I turn that key, I want EVERYTHING cut off from that battery. Guess I just have to pull the cable off???
(Someone tell me if I'm over reacting. I can take it...)

Our Cambridge 358 has the shore station, and its great everything is in one place and inclosed, it also has a manifold system and you can shut off shower, sinks and all different water systems. The shore stations was a great selling point for us. As for the battery cut off, its just a red key with on/off. I have never used this option. But for that matter I have never winterized either. Many of the standard options from the Cambridge has been incorperated into the 07 Montana's and the Big Sky. You will like the option now offered on the 07's. Good Luck...GBY..

Your right the switch does not turn off the landing gear, don't know why, but there is a fuse in line located near the motor of the landing gear.
Alway switch the power, where it is a light switch or the power for the trailer, just plain safer.

Could a simple battery cutoff switch be installed in the battery compartment? Seems this would shut off all battery power when switched off.

Yes it would and some MOLCers have done this. Still don't know what the reasoning is for leaving the landing gear "hot" when throwing that disconnect key...

I bought this switch at a local RV dealer's shop. I installed it when I added the 2 golf cart batteries and the Bluesea Battery Box. The red handle is removed when in the OFF position, so never in doubt as to whether ON or OFF.

In my 2955 I have two 12 volt bateries wired in series. I just used a metal 110v switch box with 8 gauge wire and a light switch like you have in your house. I didn't read all of the post to see what was recommended...JB
