Red will make the Monty turn green. [With envy]. We have the 17 ram sew. Our Big Sky turned into a Redwood, be careful. The red Ram looks great.

So I'm looking for the base only, but here the question, can I get away with the base non-slider and not get the slider? The non-slider in cheaper of course but I was wondering before I order can I get away with the non-slider, thanks guys for your help.
I have a 2015 Ram 3500. Ram, like I believe other makers uses a proprietary puck system. I ended up buying the Ram specific frame and was able to use my Curt hitch. Since yours is a short bed I think most Montana's have the angled nose cap which may allow you to get away without a sliding hitch. The only issue I have had with my truck was when Uconnect sent a faulty software upgrade that prevents the bumper back up camera from showing images in the main dash screen- they appear in my rear view mirror. Otherwise I think they are great trucks. You will enjoy the exhaust brake and built in brake controller. Best of luck. Steve

You will want a slider for your new truck. With the short bed you will find the back window of the truck. Truck windows are 800-1000 dollars b&w slider base is about 900.
Let’s just say I speak from experience.

My neighbor finally bought a slider for his Ford. A B&W Patriot like I have. It was $839 from eTrailer. Told him to figure $1300 for truck repair and not sure how much to fix the nose of his 2018 Montana. He always said it would never hit and it didn’t until it did.

Not offering advice one way or the other, but I have towed 5th wheels for almost 20 years with the same short bed Ford. It has a slider hitch, but I’ve never used the slider. We just bought a 2019 Ford F350 Super Duty short bed, and had a B&W Companion non slider installed.

Good luck with your new truck. It’s a beauty.

No problem

Congrats on the new ride. Mine is a 2015 2500. It came with the bumper and cargo cameras. Love them. Mine had a 5 puck system from the factory. I had everything but the rails so I bought Reese adapter that sets in the 4 corners and cam locks in place. The center puck can be used with a mopar drop in ball if so desired.I occasionally pull units for a dealer and haven't had any need for a slider. Older units were more of a square front and if you were to pull one like that it would be useful . mine has factory air ride on the drive axle that can be adjusted up or down . you might check to see if yours is equipped with one also as not a lot of folks I know weren't aware of that item. I pull a 305 rl and an enclosed atv trailer with my side x side and it pulls all of it with no problem. You will be happy ,no doubt. Happy rving

Will be a nice ride! Check to see if equipped with engine brake, you will never regret it. Mine is ‘12 with long box, on my second set of Firestone tires. First set made 65K miles. Enjoy!

Congrats on the new ride. I have a 2017, but I always go the long bed for smoother ride and no rear window issues. I also added the firestone 5000 airbags and it is plenty! This rig pulls the Monty like a scalded cat with turpentine on its butt! And not one bit of porpoising either! Enjoy the ride

Thank you guys for your comments and congrats, well my base B&W hitch will be here on Wednesday so it's a done deal. I have a B&W slider now but not the puck kind and I can say that I have never need it but although I did use it two times but I was just trying it out.

Congrats! That is one sweet rig I wouldn't mine getting a Ford but one thing for sure they don't give them away.

I had a lot of stuff from my 2017 2500 ram so I was able to transfer them all over to my new 2018 3500 ram, I can't wait I will be picking it up Tuesday morning sometime.

Sparatacus,
That is one sweet ride. Although I have a Ford, I respect the taste of all the Dodge and GM owners as I have been there in the past. You will appreciate the high backup cam when hitching the 5er up and all the electronic bells and whistles in these trucks are amazing. You made a great score finding the body style you wanted. Wishing you many happy miles.

Jim

Before you take delivery, open up the hood and take a GOOD long look. When we bought our Town and Country Van a few years ago, it had been in the back lot for over a year, and packrats had made a small mess, chewed some insulation. Check all wires and hoses, and if you find any evidence of critter activity, have the dealer do a thorough inspection.

Beautiful truck!! With the B&W, you can move it to the rearward position which is about 2" behind center, but since it uses the puck system, it won't matter, but will give you a little more clearance on the back glass. A coworker that works with me just traded his '17 Ram 2500 for a '19 Ram 3500 dually. Ram is making some very nice trucks. Congratulations!
