Nephew in bad shape

As most of you know, Cathy and I have been travelling with my sister and BIL this summer. She got a call two days ago that her oldest son, (53 y/o), was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. To complicate matters his liver is failing and he is quite toxic. The docs say it doesn't look good, so she left (via airline) to be at his side. Her son-in-law will fly out to Dayton, OH and help my BIL get their 5th wheel back to California. We were planning a week stay in Branson, MO with them and then they were returning to CA and we were going on to TX for the winter. We are now debating about Branson or going straight to Tx after our stay at MorRyde in Elkhart.

Any thoughts about Branson??? Never been there before.....

Lots to see and do in Branson. Would love to be there now-before the snow starts. Ozark Country Campground is a PA and we enjoyed our stay there. Take a flyrod for fishing in the river.

So, very sorry to hear of this illness, and I will add him to my long prayer list.

Branson, have not been in many moons, the shows are terrific. Silver Dollar park (I have no idea if it is still there, or the current name) was a huge memory maker for our son when he went there with us, they have a cavern connected, HUGE, amazing and more!

The general area is beautiful too.

Phil, Sorry to hear about your nephew. We will keep him in our thoughts and prayers. Don't know when you were to be in Branson but the Ozarks are beautiful in the fall. The hills light up with fall colors similar to New England. Of course timing is everything. The area around Branson is beautiful with three major lakes and the surrounding hlls. In Branson itself there is so much to do with many good clean entertaining shows. My wife loves the shopping in the area. Silver Dollar City, as Carol mentioned, is a must see. If it fits your schedule you ought to take it in. Should be right on your way to Texas.

Our prayers are with you also. We have stayed at ABC campground twice and the folks there are great. It's impossible to get bored in Branson, but lots of traffic.

We were in Branson just 2 weeks ago. This is the time of year to go. Crowds mostly gone. You can get great tickets to just about any show you want. We went to 3 shows. First show we got tickets about 1 hour before showtime. First row center section. Second show, we got tickets the morning of the afternoon show. Second row center section.
For the third show, we bought tickets (actually voucher) from one of the ticket services on the day we arrived for show 2 days later. Sixth row center. But when we went to the ticket counter to exchange the voucher for the tickets an hour before showtime, others were buying their tickets at the counter and they had 2nd and 3rd row center available. I think we saved a few dollars each by buying from the ticket service.
All the shows were only about 30-40% full. More shows in Branson than in Las Vegas.
Trees were just beginning to get a touch of color. Some beautiful country. And the strip was actually driveable.

Sorry to hear about your nephew. Do stop at Branson on your way to Texas. It is a fun place ot visit. While there you might want to check out the College of the Ozarks--it is a college for low income MO kids--a real pretty campus and the museum is very interesting--has the original Beverly Hillbilly's car on display. the restrauant on the campus is also good and reasonable--the students do all of the work there.

A recent update on my nephew: His liver is failing and his spleen is quite enlarged and he can't produce platelets. He was toxic also. They gave him mega doses of antibiotics. When he first went in he was willing to sign a DNR request, however he has renewed strength and confidence after the antibiotics and has elected NO DNR and no Hospice or nursing home so the hospital discharged him to home. He has a nurse come in twice a week to check on him and give meds. His mom doesn't quite believe he knows the end is near, although the docs told him his body is failing and time is near. He will either die at home or be moved to a hospice if he gets worse.

Thanks everyone for your prayers and the advice on Branson. We have decided to do a week in Branson before moving on to Texas. Will do three days in Saint Louis and a couple in OKC before making it further south to TX. We're told the memorial to the Federal Employees in OKC is a Must see, so we will do that for sure.....

We will of course, continue our prayers for the family.

Another thing we did in OK City was the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. We loved it!

I am rebuilding my geocities web site on a blog, what a pain, but, here is OK City.
