A simple measure of the utility of the floor plan in a 3400RL is examining all the other manufacturers offerings. You'll find that virtually every one of them offers a nearly identical setup. Or, just ask the DW's......

Our current trailer has very limited counter space but that works ok for us because we only use it for long weekends and vacations. When we retire and have the opportunity to spend more time in it we will definately want a model with more counter space. If we were buying a new Montana today it would be the 3400. Whatever model we eventually wind up with our next coach will have a 3400 style kitchen. Good luck with your decision.

We've been living in our 3400RL since May 28. I am so glad that I have the extra space that the L-shaped counter offers. I use the corner area for fresh fruit, paper towels, etc. The other counter spaces have been more than sufficient for all food preparation, including rolling out pie crust.

We also have the double fridge and the only time I have had to use an additional cooler was to hold the case of beverages for a get together.

The only thing I would NOT require again is the gas oven. I used it a lot in the beginning until I was ready to bake something and could not get the pilot light lit. I was forced to read the manual and use the convection oven. I have not used the gas oven since! The microwave/convection combo is the way to go!!

Our decision to go with the 3605 instead of the 3400 was based on the bathroom layout not the kitchen layout. We wanted the bathroom facilities seperate/isolated from the bedroom. I can go fishing/golfing early without disturbing the DW.

We have a 2005 3400RL and I just love it. The kitchen space is great and as others have said two people can prepare meals and not be in each others way. There is plenty of counter space compared to other models that we looked at. Thinking of getting a newer model and after all of the looking we would buy a 3400RL again. You won't be sorry with this model.
Enjoy,
Jim & Marge
