trailer first truck second

Well the trailer is in for it's repair thats good.
I went out to take the 16K hitch off the rails to get some wood for a vault move, and I think that was tweeked also had to use a pry bar to pop it out. I'm hoping that the rails might have shifted making it hard to lift the hitch out, we will see. I'm sure glad I dont have any trips planed.

here are some pictures of the damage to the hitch area of the trailer this is about 8 K worth.

Don did the rv dealer take down the underside of the front or you? I have been wanting to insulate up in there but hate to take down the fiberglass panel around the pinbox. just wondering how hard it would be to do.

It's not hard at all. You do have to cut a part of the underside around the pin box because at the factory it is installed before the pin box is. Not a big deal.

Removal of the underside

Thanks Mike do you think there is enough insulation under the front to just leave it alone are does it need more? I also have a squeak under the BR floor.

Don,

What happened?
Comming home from Colorado on I-40 at 62 mph I hit a depression in the road that first lifted the TV off the hwy and the Monty came down very hard with the TV, then the tandum wheels hit it and it got air which help rupture the Gally tank too, It's a shame that there was nobody in front of me because I would have seen there vehicle hit the hole and I could have slowed down and averted the depression.

Bummer huh.

Don,
Wow! That must have been a ditch and not just a "depression"! That is some severe damage to your trailer. It's hard to imagine that the road is that bad and is not noted in some fashion. I would think a sign would be posted at the very least!

Good luck with getting the damage fixed.

And how much damage was sustained by your truck? Sure hope that pretty new thing is not too beat up! Q is coming up soon so you've got your work cut out. See you soon. Dennis

Don I hit a strip at the end of a bridge on I-75 south of cincinnati in 09 coming back from the rally where they had cut down to repave and I thought it had ripped out the axels. It was the hardest hit I think I ever had to the rig. No damage to the hitch but on second thought that could be where my axel problem started? Hope you get ecerything fixed soon.

Don, I think I'd be talking to Dept of Transportation about possible reimbursement for damage.

Sorry, Don, for what happened! Wow!

As for the insulation in there, it seems to be a little lacking in my opinion and could stand for a bit more.
