Bonus Air Bags

While looking under my truck this morning I found a bonus I didn't know I had. My truck came with suspension airbags installed.
Now I need your help. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to these? Is there a certin amount of air I am supposed ot have in them? Should I let the air out when I am not towing anything?

I run about 40lbs's when towing and 0 lbs when empty. The manufacture recomends minimum of 5lbs, to insure they don't get pinched. Just use enough to level the truch after hooking up.

Mark is on it. Inflate to the desired heighth, and when not loaded keep at least 5# in them.

I too keep about 5# in them when not towing, and about 35# when towing. Both ride well for the 2955RL.

I run mine at 50 lbs all the time. I don't deflate them because we are constantly traveling. By that I mean that we move often!

Wow! I can't leave mine inflated at all... If I drive w/o the 5th on and the bags inflated it's like having cement blocks for shocks.

When towing having a level trailer is important but even more important are the TV's headlights. Especially during night towing with or without the trailer your headlights should not be aimed too high and blinding oncoming drivers or too low so that you are not getting the total illumination of what's ahead of you.
Take your TV with 5# of air in the bags and without the trailer and park on a flat surface aiming at a wall of about 10 to 15 feet away. Note where the main concentration of your headlights hit the wall. Now, hook up the Monty and park in the same spot. With only 5# you will note that the headlights are aimed way to high. Now inflate the air bags until your headlights are aimed at the same unloaded spot. Check the PSI in the bags and you now know what your towing air pressure should be. It's just that simple.
You want 5 PSI empty and whatever you find the PSI to be when the headlights are properly aimed. And just because you never drive at night has NO bearing. You never know when circumstances beyond your control find you driving at night and wishing your headlights were aimed properly.

A question to the new Ford F350 owners, you need air bags? Had them in my 250 but have not towed in the 350 yet.
