TV LIFT WIRING

Thanks to a post on this board by Sierra 117, I decided to check the wiring for the TV lift in our 3455SA today. The picture below shows the condition the positive wire was in. It has obviously been caught, pinched and rubbed under and by the lift mechanism. I needed to pull the fireplace out to get complete access to the wires which were just hanging loosely behind the TV.

The fix was easy enough....I spliced in new wire and secured it to the back (outside) wall of the slide with just enough slack to allow free movement up and down without the possibility of them getting pinched in the future. If you have a rig with the TV lift system you might want to check to see what condition the wires are in. Even though it is only 12 volts it can still cause you problems.

Jack

Wiring for the TV lift motor. The one with the bare wires is the positive side. I am surprised I never blew a fuse from it grounding out.

Jack,
My lift pinched and broke the speaker wire to the subwoofer, not nearly the problem you have with the a/c. I found it easy to remove the TV (mainly 'cause I couldn't see how to get the fireplace out). I was then able to gain access to secure all the wires.

brenkco,
When I installed our fireplace (that is how I knew how to remove it) I could see where the power cord for the TV had be pinched and smashed a couple of times. I secured the wires for the sub-wolfer and power cords for the TV and fireplace so they would not get pinched in the future, but didn't even look at the wiring for the lift until yesterday.
