I had been looking at the locks that are like on most camper shells that the handle turns and a rod go's to both sides. dont know if it would be worth the trouble.

We also have a CCW but what good is that if a thief can take something while you are in the camper and be undetected. Awareness of our surroundings, vigilance and good security measures, lighting, locked doors, tv or radio on are still the best preventative measures to take.

Having never experienced a breakin in an RV or a house, I have no firsthand knowledge of this. But, it would seem to me a breakin while we are sleeping in this Montana in an rv park is less likely than a breakin in our house (when we had one) while we were sleeping. A thief could break into one part of the house while we are sound asleep at the opposite end of the house. The same could be said for breaking into the Montana but we'd be so much closer the chance of waking us is far greater than in a stick house. Or so it seems to this feeble old mind. In any case, I suppose it could happen, but we can only do what we can so I'm not going to worry too much about it.

We have been Rv'ing for over 25 years and on the road pretty regular for the last 3 years. We have never had a break in or a theft problem in all that time nor do we know personally of any rv'er who has. Same with the stick home... Of course anything can happen at any time. It is good to have a plan and practice caution and awareness. We are prepared and we are always aware but we refuse to be paranoid about it. I worry more about a blowout on the truck/ camper that I do about a break-in.
