There are two campgrounds just north of Richmond on I95. I can't rember the names but if I rember, its about one or two exits north bound. Another is on exit with the Flying J and rt 207. Outdoor World has a campground off rt 3/301 about 15 miles off I95. Theyo are open to everyone for 20.00. The next campgrund is Cherry Hill north of Washington DC.

We have stayed at the Fredericksburg KOA 2-3 times. Our son went to college in Fairfax, VA and we used our old class C to move his things up there! We spent the night at the KOA on the way home. It wasn't far off the main road. It was a nice park with friendly folks. I would recommend it quickly for an overnight stay.

Another thought..... The flying J at exit 104 does allow overnight guests. We have seen quite a few there. You would have the noise from the truckers though.

Americamps in Ashland VA, exit 98 I think. About $25 with 3 way hookup. Cable sites are available but more money. It is close to the road and there is road noise. KOA in Bowling Green is no longer a KOA and it is a place in transition. when we stayed there last year it was still a KOA and it cost nealy $40. There is also a big amusment park at exit 94 I think and they have a big campground. Stayed there a long time ago when the amusement part was closed for the season and it was fine and reasonable too. I can't speak for the place if the amusement is open. I have stayed at the Fredricksburg KOA many times and like it. It is near many Civil War sites. I'm a buff so it means more to me than many, but the road into the campground is the same road that Sonewall Jackson's ambulance followed after he was wounded and the Jackson Shrine where he died is not far beyond. The park is is a short drive to the metro station that will take you into DC. They say the parking lot for the metro is a reasonably safe place to leave a vehicle for the day (unlike Cherry Hill which is think is way overrated)

Haven't stayed there yet but we have reservations there for a week in late July, with our granddaughters. We drove through this park a couple of years ago but I can't for the life of me remember very much about it. It has wifi and cable, two of our criteria for stays that long.

We have family there in Richmond and normally stay at Americamps on I-95 just north of town. It is easy to get in and out of, close to shopping, etc. Pretty nice location.

Thank you David and Kathy! I originally figured by this time we'd be tired of fulltiming or have seen everything we want to see. But the list is longer than the day we started. "We've only just begun!"
