Seating option suggestions.
Our Monty (2010 3150RL) has two recliner/glider/swivel chairs at the rear by the big window. We hate them. They are heavy and hard to move around. They have to be tied down every time we travel. And, because they are 'gliders', if someone sits down "with enthusiasm" they hit the rear window or wall. We nearly lost the big window when our friends son plopped down and slid back against the glass. He didn't mean to but he hit the window pretty hard. And we have marks on the wall where the chairs have moved back & forth while traveling. We are planning to replace them with either a small sofa type seating or two plain Jane cushioned chairs. Has anyone been through this? What did you end up with for seating and what did you do with your old recliners? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kevin

When traveling we face the chairs back to back works well.
We would not be without the chairs never in 9 years have we had the problem with hitting the window.I think you may have them to close to the window I would move them forward just a suggestion.I see you are from Beaver Falls .We lived in Robinson Twp Pa for 30 years and spend the Summer in Zelienople. We now live in Englewood Fl

Thanks Ken. Hope FL is treating you well. We have several friends in Zelie.
We've tried moving the chairs out and it does keep them fron hitting the walls but it also puts them way out into the room. Basically we just do not like them so we're looking for something else. We've looked at a small sofa and two seperate chairs. After winter I'll get some measurements so we can do some serious shopping around.
Thanks,
KT

We hated the large recliners also. Took the backs off, took them out of the trailer, and sold them on Craigslist. Went to Nebraska Furniture Mart and bought two Lazy Boy european style wall huggers for about $350 each. About $250 less than from the Lazy Boy store. Same Chair! The Lazy Boys don't swivel or rock but do fully recline and take up about 1/2 the space. We really like the chairs and the additional floor space. Jim

We replaced our stock recliners with Lazy Boy leather rocker/recliners. MUCH more comfortable. Got the model called Pinnacle.

Hey Kevin,
I don't think your going to be able to close the slides in with the couch in the rear. We tried and it didn't work.
We liked the couch in the rear but only do it when we are staying for a length of time.

We scrapped the couch in the big curb side slide, put in new Lazboy recliners and put our dining room table in the rear. Works great for us!

Kevin, the slides will come in if you reposition the bottom curtain rods and slide couch back against window frame.

We too ditched the original heavy recliners. The wife liked the ones Lazyboys we had in the house so we moved them to the trailer and she got new ones for the house. Next project is to remove the kitchen table and build a new base for it with storage.

Well, I guess we're not the only ones who want to 'modify' things. Some folks really get into rearranging things. I like that. Thanks foir the replies, we have some ideas to play with now.

We put two Lane wall hugger recliners in. We took the swivels off the bottom of the other 2 chairs that we took out of the camper. We put them on the bottom of the Lane chairs so that they will swivel.

Great suggestions about the rearranging of furniture. Let's say we too wanted the couch against the back window. But only for the period of time we are camped for awhile. How about "sliders" on the feet of the couch to move it around?

We tried to put the sofa in the back (we have the 3150) but the sofa was abut 3 inches too wide--we even took the curtain brackets off. We decided the 3150 is just a little narrower at the back than the other models,

Nice to see not everyone, like us, is impressed with the original recliners. We still have ours but are looking. We have the couch in the back and on the 336RTL Mountaineer the slides do work fine, however we have decided to rearrange again and put the couch back in the slide. Being musicians and attending a lot of music festivals we are very happy with our room. We came from a 27 ft single slide SOB to the Montana, 38 ft with 3 slides and have plenty of room for before and after show guests. We are completely sold on Montana and would never ever think of a change, in fact I doubt we would ever change the one we have. We have the two sinks in the bathroom, one next to the shower and one in the toilet area, and with two people trying to get ready for a show, they are almost a necessity. Okey, my 2 cents ran out--hahaha--Happy Trails, Steve and Susie

We hated the recliners that came with our new 2013 3100RL. When you put your feet up on the recliners the foot rest would start dropping towards the floor until you were almost in an upright position again. It wasn't so bad for me but my husband and dad had a horrible time trying to keep them in the reclined position. So we took them out and put in two swivel recliners that we bought at Costco. They are very comfortable. Probably not the quality of Lazy Boy but we don't live in our rig.
I am going to think about switching the recliners to the area beside the refrigerator because then we wouldn't have to lock them down so much when we travel. I also hate the couch but we don't use it that often so I am not too concerned about it. Maybe in the future we will change it out too.
Have fun rearranging your furniture!
