Installed Dinette
Not sure this would actually be considered an improvement to some of you but thought I would post here as to us it was an improvement. TeeHee
When we bought our Montana the one the dealer had on the lot had a table and four chairs. We loved the floorplan but I was set on having the dinette for the extra sleeping space and also for the storage under the seats. The dealer assured us they would order the dinette and switch out the table and chairs. Well on our scheduled delivery date the dinette had not arrived from the factory. As we had plans to travel 250 miles on that day the dealer offered to let us take the unit with the table and chairs and bring our Montana back at a future date to install the dinette booth. We agreed and hit the road. We have set our Montana up on a privately owner lot of friends on Smith Lake which is about a five hour drive from our dealer. We plan to leave it there for the summer and decided we did not want to tow it back to the dealer for the installation of the dinette. The dealer called us to tell us the dinette was in and said it would be "easy" for us to install. We loaded it in the back of our truck and headed back to our Montana this weekend. Well needless to say what may be an "easy" job for a dealer turned into a five hour job. I might say we had many pieces and had to put it all together including the fabric trim on the back top edges. Fortunately we had friends with us for the weekend and managed to turn it into a fun adventure. It looks great and we have the table and chairs in the truck to return to the dealer. Only one small suggestion if you ever try this...make sure when placing the brackets on the floor and table for the posts that you leave sufficient space between the window and the backedge of the table. When we leave the Montana to come back to the "work world" we always pull down the shades to keep the sun off the interior. When we went to lower the shade behind the table we had not allowed enough space for the shade to clear (Only lacked about 1/2 inch). Problem is easily solved by removing the table top and laying it down. As careful as we were this was the only problem we encountered so we felt very accomplished. But believe me ... it is not an "easy" job.
