Lake Livingstone SP, TX

We are thinkiing of stopping off at Lake Livingstone SP on our way home. Anyone have any experience there. They assure that they can accomodate our rig and have sewer sites. Sound nice, any comments?

Most state parks in Texas have only water and electric hookup but some also have sewer. I did a search on Lake Livingston and the site says there are 78 sites with sewer, 22 of these being premium sites on the water. Link is: http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/park/lakelivi/feelliv.htm

John and Donna, it is a pretty nice park. When you enter, make sure you ask for a premium site. The premium sites have water, sewer, and electric. Also look at the map of the park at the gate while you are checking in, and see if you can get a lakeside site, the sunsets across the lake are fantastic. Plus on the lake side there is a walkway down at water level and there are a few benches to sit on scattered along the walkway.

When might you guys be there? It is about an hour and a half from us.

Glad to see you folks back and drive safely.

Oh, I might add, if you are planning on traveling through Texas on HWY 59, when you reach Atlanta, TX, there is another State park (Atlanta State Park) that has full hook-ups. Plus it has long pull throughs. It is another one of our favorite stops.

You might want to call and make reservations, you can reserve a specific site, but you can reseve a site by description.

Steve,
Thanks for the info. We will be leaving here (Mission) early tomorrow and hope to make it to Lake Livingstone later that day. Hope that is not too much of a haul for one day. I was planning to take 59 to Houston, Beltway 6 (toll road) around north of the city, and then pick up 59 again to head noth. Is that the best bet, or would 6 & 1960 be a better bet? Or, what about taking 59 right through the city on a Sunday?

Are you guys in Houston?

Thanks for all the help, but I found something (Rear U-joint) that I have to get fixed on the truck before we leave. Will have to wait and see what local Chev. dealer has to say on Monday. Should be covered under extended warranty plan, - we shall see! This will mess up my plan to get through Houston on a Sunday. May have to rethink the whole idea.

John.

If you were able to make the blast through Houston on Sunday, I would push straight through on 59, but since it looks like you might have to push through on a week-day, I would run Beltway 8 around to the North of the City and pick-up 59 North. From Mission to Livingston State Park, you will have about a 483 mile trip. (Stay away from 1960 if you are towing if you can. Many, Many stop lights.)

Good luck with the u-joint and what ever you guys decide to do, drive safe.
