Checked both my Monty and my Sprinter TT. Both units on the list. Closest service is about 35 miles away. Wish I could tow both at the same time (ha) so I wouldn't have to make two trips. At least I get some "road time".

I am a little late sending this since my refrigerator was modified on the 19th. They installed a heat sensor in the tube surrounding where the LP gas flame is. It is wired up to the circuit board. If the Temperature gets to hot the sensor thur the circuit board will close off the gas valve. I do not know what the temperature shut off point is. They also install a metal shield to the right and in front of the place where is gas flame is located. The shield doesn't make much sense to me as the rest of the compartment is still wide open. Anyway mine is done. Heading to Alaska this Jume.

I am a little late sending this as my refrigerator was modified on the 19th. They installed a temperature sensor in the metal housing above where the gas flame is located. It is wired back to the circuit board. If the temperature gets to hot and activates the sensor it thru the circuit board will close off the gas valve. (Don't know what the temperature limit is). They also installed a metal shield to the right and to out side of the gas flame location. This doesn't make much sense to me as the rest of the compartment is still wide open. When I read the recall notice I was under the impression that they were concerned about a refrigerant leak causing a fire. Anyway mine is completed. Heading to Alaska in Jume.

Has anyone received the "fix" through the mail as a result of phone registrations ? I received a letter (filed it someplace I have to find) and recall that sometime in April they were going to make the "shield" available and I got the impression that it would be sent out to those folks whose rigs are out of warranty.

I hope they will send a kit in the mail but I really doubt it due to liability. Can you picture a lawyer finding out you did the job? Just my guess thou. I have a bad feeling about taking my home to a dealer when everything is working.

I just had the recall done at my local Camping World.Took the guy less then an hour to do the job.Camping World charged Dometic 45 bucks for the install.I just had to sign off on the repair.Had some other up-grades done at the same time and totally forgot to pull the outside cover off to see what was done.I feel a little better knowing at least I won`t be engulfed in a fire while sleeping.

Did you guys get a letter from Dometic saying take it someplace ? Or is Camping World just taking care of it based on unit serial numbers?

Camping World is a service center for Dometic refridges.I did get get a letter from Dometic. You can go on their web site and type in your model number and serial number to see if your fridge is on the recall list.

My fridge was on the list - checked the online site to confirm. Bish's RV in Pocatello, ID installed the kit on the fridge - the service mgr stated Dometic wouldn't fix the unit if it failed, but the kit would prevent fire - sounds like a cheap band-aid. When Norcold had a similar problem in the past - they replaced the cooling unit with correct hardware.

We received our letter from Dometic but have heard nothing more - thought they were going to send kit or authorization for repair.

Send a message via AIM to noneck
Hi Virgil, No...kit is not sent. Recall notice indicates owner is to contact your local RV Dealer or contact Dometic for Authorized service center to schedule repair.

If your serial number is included in the recall.

Just call any RV repair facility and ask them about the Dometic recall.
They will schedule you to bring the unit into their facility for the 1 to 2 hour repair.

You do not need authorization from Dometic.

Be aware there are thousands of affected referigerators and the repair facilities are continually reordering more kits.
