Thermostat Suprise

Got rig out of storage, plugged in. Went to turn on the A/C units. Thermostat is blank. Only the background lite works.

OK, go buy a new CCC2, program it, all is well again.

Jim

Just a question. Do you use an EMS unit? Seems funny your having regular problems with computer controls.

Thermostat is 12 Volt so EMS will not help.

I think I'll wait until mine goes bad and then replace it. If I kept a "spare" of anything that COULD go bad, I would not have room for the things I really need.

Good point, I got focusing on the computer chips involved and not on the voltage.

If I start carrying spare parts for what has malfunctioned, or what is obviously "on it's last leg" on my 18 month old unit, it would be impossible to live in my Montana due to lack of available room.

I would be hauling around a new roof kit, a new furnace, and a new frig, plus numerous other smaller parts.

question? just because it is 12 volt system does not mean that an EMS wouldnt help. The EMS ensures the 120vac power coming into the trailer is good. that 120vac power goes thru the converter and gets converted to 12vdc. if you have garbage coming in, would you not have garbage coming out?

Sometimes my screen is blank except for the blue background light when I press a button. Once I press the power button it comes to life.

Odd thing is you have to press the button to get the light on before the button press works, So if it's dark, I have to press the power button twice to get the power on the thermostat.

When I was finishing up my solar installation, all of a sudden the thermostat decided to act really strange. Can't remember (this was over a year ago & I'm getting older by the second!) exactly the symptoms, but after trying all the fuses & etc., it went blank. Looked up the price of a new one and decided to try some more. I completely disconnected all AC and DC power and then reconnected the DC. Just like any time you reboot a computer, it came right back on and has been working fine ever since. Might try that yourself, but you've got to disconnect your battery. Not with the switch, but by taking the cable off.
