Our new stained glass window
Many MOCers have inspired us to search for a stained glass window for our front door. While in Arizona and California, we shopped in Mexico three different times. The best selection of these RV windows definitely seems to be in Algodones, south of Yuma. Our cost was $45.00, after a bit of haggling. It's a wonderful addition to our rig, so pretty when the light shines through it. Just wanted others to know that such windows are available.

Super Judy. It looks great. That is where we got ours well over a year ago and about 35,000 miles of travel and still no problems with it. Mine was a little more but has a lot of the beveled glass in it so I couldn't haggle quite as much. We got ours fro $60.00
jsmitfl, we did see one with an elk when we were down there.

Very nice!! We have been looking for one in our area to no avail. My 19 month old granddaughter just saw the picture and said, "What a pretty DUCK!" LOL So, enjoy your new DUCK!!

Lamar, I do love my new 'duck'. So cute!
JP, I'm sure you could find an elk as Helen said.
Rich, I thought of you and Helen when we bought this. At least this bird doesn't make any noise and doesn't make Greta jealous.
Helen, we bought a clear beveled glass wall hanging with red edging that was twice the price of this but it's larger and a fancier shape. They had a nice selection and were easy to deal with....meaning they speak good English.
Thanks for all the compliments. We're glad we found one we like so well. I know others have put them in their door. Maybe they can post a picture, too.

We were in Algodones, south of Yuma, but I can't tell you exactly where the shop is. The shopping area in the city isn't large and the shop isn't difficult to see as they have quite a stock. The stained glass is all displayed on an outdoor patio so they're easy to see.

Sunnyside, they are especially made for the RV crowd that shops in Mexico, easy to install. The window frame comes out easily and we just put clear silicon around the edge to seal it. We applied blue tape to the window to protect the window before applying the silicon (thanks for that tip, Doug!). Then the window and frame are sandwiched back together and put back into the door.
They can be made by anyone. Parrothead has a source for someone who makes them. The ones in Mexico are very reasonable.

Hi Judy, that is a beautiful window. I do stained glass (one of the hobbies I'm afraid I'll have to leave behind when we start RVing , but I have plenty of others). I was wondering what you are refering to when you said "We applied blue tape to the window to protect the window before applying the silicon". Could you explain this please? Thanks, Sue C

That's a good price, I do stain glass as a hobby and that is price good. Are you replacing the window in the door with this or just placing it on the inside?

We replaced the window. When we trade this unit, we will replace it with the old window.

Just a reminder that they make these windows in several sizes so be sure you know your size before going to Mexico. They make one a little bigger for the class A's etc. and when you see so many, you are not sure what size you need.
The beautiful one that Parrothead has was made exactly to her specs. and colors and are awesome. The artist showed them at the Fall Rally in Minden in 2005.
