Installed My Bedsaver Today

With only days left until we take delivery of our 3400 I got out and installed my Blue Ox Bedsaver today.
I know there are differences in opinions about the bedsaver. My best friend thought I was wasting money. But in my minds eye... I just saved about $4000.00

Blue,
Glad to hear you are getting your truck ready for your new 3400RL. Looking forward to hearing all about it...

it's like anything else....everyone has their opinions and it's just that an "opinion". There is no right or wrong it's what you think is best for "you". If you like it, and want it and it appears you do, and that's the only thing that matters.

You're a very wise man! Enjoy the new rig.....without the concern of that freaking accident happening to you.

When you get the 3400 hooked up check for proper alignment of the bedsaver. It should slide onto the bedsaver with a very minimum of drop. If you have to lift the hitchpin up over the bedsaver to clear when un hitching that is a good thing. Brands of hitches vary but do the best you can.. Good move on the bedsaver..Oh I also have a V tailgate..am taking no chances..

Blue - Peace of Mind!

I don't have one, but I'm thinking about it after seeing the big 5er next to me at the storage lot with the bashed up front end. The owner showed up with a modified body on his Dodge dually and said he "top pinned" it, or slid the pin in above the jaws and it all came apart when he drove away.

Besides! If you smashed the sides of the bed of your truck - that electric bed cover wouldn't work anymore !

Brad ~ I wasnt even thinking about trying to replace my electric bed cover. That would hurt.

Rich ~ I will check the alignment when we get hooked up. Right now it looks like it would be about an 1" or 2 " drop.(just eye-ballin it)

We had also installed the bedsaver before we had the 3400.We had the dealer adjust the hitch and bedsaver. They did a great job. We have the Draw-tite 16K hitch and I would say our drop into the bedsaver is maybe 1 or 2 inches. We do have to raise the pin to get it over the bedsaver. When I open the jaws and relieve the pressure on the hitch enough to unhook I would not be able to clear the bedsaver..that is a good thing....

My pin drops right into the bed saver and it doesn't come close to the sides of the truck, it worked perfectly, however, I hope it never has to do it again.
