Bilstein Shocks

I recently purchased new rear HD Bilstein shocks for my 2003 F250 SD 7.3L Lariat. Total cost for two from www.ajusa.com was $119.78. If I had purchased them from www.campingworld.com on-line my total cost would have been $180.09. Their prices were higher to begin with and they would have added $14 shipping cost and WA ST tax at 8.9%. And I am a president's club member. ajusa shipped free and no tax. An over $60.00 savings. Pays to shop around on the net.

I think I can install them myself. We will see.

That looks like a good price...it just so happens I plan on ordering a set today or tommorrow...
They say 2-3 hours depending on how hard it is to get the old ones out.

Just Saturday I replaced all 4 with Bilstein Shocks on my 2500HD Duramax. Took about 1.5 hrs, and the install went real well with no problems. Have not hooked up to 5er yet, but does help the handling somewhat when solo.

Dean, thanks for the tip and link. You pushed me over the edge and I went ahead and ordered 4. Guess I know what I will be doing next weekend.

I have to say, Ajusa was awesome to purchase from!! I ordered the Bilsteins Monday morning after reading this post. They arrived via FedEx at my door on Wednesday afternoon and that was with free shipping!! I installed them this morning....very easy on my GMC 2500HD. They just bolted right in, didn't even need to lift the truck for access...used a creeper and rolled right under it. Anyway, these shocks seem to work great. After driving around town without the fiver for appx. 20 miles I am thinking the old shocks were shot and I just didn't know it. The ride has improved significantly. The same old bumps in the road I drive everyday don't have half the impact on the truck like before. I can't wait to hook up the fiver and see the difference. Thanks again Dean for the heads up!! This forum is great!!

Just got our Bilsteins in today...haven't towed yet, but a HUGE difference in the way the truck handles.
Now it feels like it's in control rather than getting pushed around.

The old shocks were simply awful...50k on the truck, and the old shocks wouldn't even move on their own...totally shot.

Now I can't wait to hook up to feel the difference.

EDIT - AZCampinfool...you beat me by just that much...LOL

Ozzie, Glad you got them on, one more thing you can check off your list!
Happiness is a new set of shocks.

Hehe...thanks Ozz, but you know how those lists go I'm sure...one off and two more on.
Now I'm thinking of an onboard water tank in the truck with a pump...our property at the lake has only power - and only 20 amp to boot.

I'm really looking forward to the trip up on Labor Day weekend - can't wait to see how she handles.

I know that OEM shocks are generally ready to be replaced by 50k miles or sooner. However, the OEM Rancho shocks on our Ford seem to be just as strong as new at almost 64k miles. They probably are not as strong as new but I'm not seeing any difference nor problem. Anyone have an idea how long I can expect these shocks to last, given we tow about 15k to 20k miles per year?

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

It appears to be
Front - BE5-C295-H0
Rear - BE5-C296-H0

But I am not 100% sure.

Yay!

After pulling nearly 8 hrs on the highway (and a stop for adjustments), I can say my rig is back to peak towing performance.
It even handles (no more bouncy bounce) bridges with a full feeling of control.

I know things are working right when my speedometer starts creeping up on me...

I see now where Camping World has their Bilstein shocks for sale on a 4 for the price of three basis. Wouldn't have helped me since I only bought the two rear ones. And with their shipping costs and collection of taxes it still would have been more expensive to buy from them.
