5th wheel Lube

Just getting ready to use my 5th wheel hitch for the first time. Advise on what type of LUBE to use, How about TEFLON ??

Get a teflon plate, works great no mess.

Yes, just get a teflon plate for the pin.

While the teflon plate works well and there is no mess, you will still want a lubricant so you can keep the 5th wheel lubed so it will not stick.

RLvoumard: The teflon plates are available at about any RV dealer/store. Also, they are generally marked as to which side goes up/down. You may want to put a little grease around the king-pin, on the jaws of your 5th wheel, and oil the hinge points on the 5th wheel. Do not put oil or grease on the teflon plate.

They go on the fifth wheel pin. Make sure you have the right side up, it will say.
It taps up over the pin and the slotted tabs keep it tight on the base of the pin. Sometimes you need to tap the tabs with a block of wood to get them to seat up tight. One size will fit all.
I left my last one on my old Fiver. It was 8 years old.
I only lubricate the moving parts of my hitch.
