Has anyone placed shocks on their monty? If so how much improvement does it make.
Thanks in advance

I did on my 2002. Made a big difference because the OEMs were shot and cheap to begin with.

My '14 has the Mor/Ryde rubber center support. I see no need for shocks. My Newmar 5th had shocks and this Montana, with out shocks, I see no difference in stuff moving around. If anything, stuff in the Montana rides better.

Earlier montana units did not have the MorRyde, so shocks were the norm

I put the rvimprovement shocks on my Montana Mountaineer Joy Ride. It was so bad from the factory that it launched the turn table out of the microwave oven. Still not enough improvement so I upgraded he Moryde equalizers that it came with. It came with bottom of the line and I upgraded to the better ones. Then put on ther MOryde pin box. So far, so good.o more Montana's for me.

My '06 has shocks and no Mor-Ryde. Since I don't ever ride or let anyone else ride in the trailer during travel, I wouldn't know a good ride from bad but for a rig this heavy it probably helps. I don't know how many miles I have so I'll wait until I detect tell-tale pocking on my tires which typically imply worn shocks. Or another 5 years oughtta do it.

This has been talked in general before. Shocks do help, but most fivers don't have room to properly mount shocks and they are just placebos to the owner. I guarantee you if you have a set put on that set at a 45 degree angle or more ... the only beneficial improvement will be in your own mind. Our suspensions don't move all that much on the highway and the shock will compress less than an inch if that.

My 3160 RL LE has the 4" MoreRide suspension and on our last trip, four hours and over White Pass (Cascade Mountains) back to our home. Now the almost funny part. When I got home and opened the slides to unload from the weekend camping I found that I forgot the dogs food and water dish located just behind our kitchen island. No food was spilled and very little water as the dish was still almost full. They were both sitting on a paper towel which was wet. With that being said I would say the unit rides pretty nice. I did have one bottle in the cabinet above the theatater seats fall over but nothing else was out of place. No shocks on this unit but I thought the dealer said that they come with shock mounts or that they were easy to install if wanted. I don't know about the angle but my last fifthwheel had them I don't know how much they helped and if I remember they were very short stroke shocks. I will now have to confirm if that is correct. If you do get them let us know how good they work.
