Lug Nut Replacement
I would like to replace the lug nuts on the new Monty with the kind that does not rust. McGard and Gorilla are the two brands that keep popping up in the search. I know they are not cheap.
Does anyone have a brand and website as well as the item number of the nut to use? Thanks for your help.

They are two of the best outfits out there. You will not have any trouble with rust on them. remember, you get what you pay for.

I have thought of taking 1/2 off, get them plated with a good coat of Chrome, and then do the other 1/2.
I used to restore Antique wood-burning stoves and kitchen ranges. I would take all the Nichol? parts and have them re-plated.

So what’s the web site? I went to dextra.com, was not the site you referenced. Can you offer additional information? Thanks!

Joe,
When you get an item number, please let me know. How are you and Lucy liking the new 3150RL? I bet it is wonderful

Here is the number I have in my records:
McGard #604805 package of 8
They are 1/2" longer than oem.
Information is from a 2008 post.

I believe the McGard is 64805
Click 64805 above for one site that sells McGard. There are other sites I'm sure that you can search.

Jim, you're far more expert on this than I am so here's my question... if you applied a chrome plating, wouldn't it nick, and then start to rust, with first application of a wrench to the surface? I think, but am not positive, that's what happens to the OEM lugnuts. So a new application of chrome would have to be thick enough that wrench application won't scrub through to the underlying metal, right?
I need to do something about ours, too. Every last one is seriously rusted and very unsightly.

You are correct! The plating would be very tough, much tougher than the original ultra thin plating job.
