We towed with Fords for years and recently traded for a Dodge. I'd recommend both. They're both excellent towing trucks. I just saw that Dodge renewed the $3500 cashback on the 2500/3500 Rams. Something to keep in mind. I drove the 2008 Ford and loved it but was leery about a first year engine. I also drove the GMC. Then I drove the Dodge and loved it. It's really hard to beat the Cummins for longevity and realiability. We have 7,100 miles on the truck, including 1,662 towing, in 6 1/2 weeks and still like this truck a lot. I think we made a good decision.

By the way, I've towed with both 3/4 ton and 1 ton and have not found a difference in stability. Perhaps in the older models but not the newer ones.
