Roof coating

Has any one ever used black jack rubber roof coating? I put some on my roof 2 years ago and it still looks good. However I have heard that one should not use this on a rv roof.

I don’t know why you would wont to.
These roofs are like a cold. If you treat a cold it will be gone in 7 days if you don’t treat it it takes a week.

Believe what Lynwood was saying with a little humor was using treatments like you described are a waste unless you are dealing with a deteriorating roof and trying to extend the life. For most folks I know, including myself, an occasional washing and inspection of caulking is the only maintenance necessary. Some will apply liquid sealer like ProtectAll, for UV protection, but it only lasts a few weeks.

I’ve been in business for over 35 years, Machine shop. I learned a long time ago not to waste time doing things that was or little benefit to me. In a Machine shop if you aren’t making chips you aren’t making money. It’s really not much Benefit for you to spend a lot of time and money to keep your roof pretty and white. It will last just as long if you do nothing. Find a nice cool morning and take a nap in your camper.

With all the drones flying around taking video … I'd like to promote RV'ers as aesthetic ... maintenance conscious people. I get up there and keep her clean and treated … because I still can.

Yes I know what you mean. We work too hard not to take care of what we have. I just got my 08 F250 out and cleaned it up. Still looks like new. Not a scratch or ding on it with only 79,000 thousand miles in it. It’s a keeper.

Pays to take care of your tow vehicle. I have a 2016 Ram 2500 6.7 towes really well, only 35,000 mi. but time and care will tell. Linda and I are new to this have been across country twice, and to eastern canada 1 time. We are getting ready to go to the Canadian rockies in August.
