Splendide + Me = Mini Wet Train Wreck

We have the stackable Splendide W/D and things have worked great for the past 11 months. Wife sent me to the store to pickup some detergent. Couldn't find the HE so i figure maybe all tide is now HE so home I go with a nice new bottle of Tide. First load, water and foam everywhere. 25 years of doing my own laundry (when the wife isn't taking good care of me) and I've never had a problem. Now what a nice mess I've made. Luckily they don't use a ton of water.

So, word to the uninformed. These little buggers don't like foam, thus the reason we use HE and a tiny little bit at that. Water and foam will backup and come right out the front. This stuff is being donated to my kid, back to the HE I'll happily go.

It is interesting that at times HE is hard to find. Back when we had an S&B our washer used HE and it was easier to find than it is in some places now.

I nearly ruined our S&B front loading washer with non He detergent. If you can't find Tide or whatever you usually use in He, pick up Woolite He. For some reason I can find that when I can't find any other He detergent.

Although some may deem it expensive, we have only used the Splendide detergent in both our rig-based washers. Camping World usually has it in stock. DW says it cleans better than any detergents she uses at home. Of course, I said why don't we use it at home then, and she replied that if Walmart or a local store carried it, she probably would.

I don't know who's worse me or the Mrs.. She went out to pickup some Tide HE and called about buying pods instead. Guess we are both slow studies. I vetoed the PODS normal old Tide HE it will be. If I could get the Splendide brand right now I'd give it a go.

For all of you who have had soap suds disaster. Carry a small bottle of downy and when it starts to overflow add 1 capful and the suds automatically go away. From one who has had experience with overflow.

When we had our Splendide worked on in Elkhart last year we were told by the very reliable repair tech that we should only use the Splendide special made detergent. Also we were advised not to use any softener because it can clog the hoses. Instead we are to use 1/4 cup of white vinegar in that space. Had done that ever since and no problems. I only use one Tablespoon of the soap and my clothes are super clean.

The Spledide folks told me not to use the pods because the amount of detergent is for a larger washer.

We are back on Tide HE powder. One table spoon and all is well! Lesson learned, until the next one. I'd go with Splendide brand but it's a lot harder to find than Tide and CW isn't always an option especially when it costs me $200 every time I walk in. We do use white Vinegar on the towels every so often if they get a bit "funky" but that doesn't happen all that often.
