Follow the the threads under Regional Camping Clubs, particularly those for Florida and the Rio Grande Valley (RGV). We have been going to the RGV, but thare are certainly many other options all along the southern edge of the US, and even into Mexico. As the Snowbird season approaches, these threads will start to get active again.

Flowreedah of course because that's where Snow Birds go. If we went to Texas we would be called Winter Texans.
This will be our 4th year in Flowreedah. After this year who knows maybe we'll dig out our cowboy boots, ten gallon hats and wonder over yonder to the Lone Star State. Howdee Tex!

I hear they are called Snowbirds in Arizona. We know they are called that in Florida. Glenn is right, if you hit the Lone Star State, they are called Winter Texans. They love us in the Rio Grande Valley, have welcoming signs all over. We love em right back!

We head to Del Rio, Texas (this year 10/21). Lonesome Dove RV Ranch. Full Hook ups with private patio areas, large lots for big rigs. Inexpensive at $225 /mo or $200/mo for 6 mo. and elec. at .13kwh. Owners & managers on site. Owner cooks the entree every Friday, we bring a dish to pass (forget about dieting, it's a lost cause, too many good cooks!) Lots of fun people. Del Rio is a town of about 50,000 located on the border between Brownsville and ElPaso. Would like to join the RGV crowd, but don't like big campgrounds and area has too many people, let alone the traffic. Another good place is Las Cruces, NM. hopefully we will be there next year.

LOL I thought ALL snowbirds came to FL in the winter. Seems like it to those of us who live here 12 months/year I have been trying to make my reservations for the upcoming winter months now.

since this will be our first year "wintering" we are going to move around. We will sart out in Lake Havasu city With Yuma and Las Vegas on our loose agenda. Next year Flordia. I am sure we will try the RGV although we are not to crazy about that area. We do not intend to pick out any one area to go back to every year...yet...As long as we can move around we will enjoy different areas. That is the primay reason we bought a home on wheels VS a condo somewhere. We do see a winter condo in our future. Staying in different areas will give us a feel as to where that might be...

Try southern Utah in the winter also. It is beautiful and has about the same temperature as the other snow bird places. Not everyone goes to Florida. Our town doubles in the winter. The city puts up big signs across the main street that says welcome winter visitors. We have people from Washington, Colorado, Oregon, Montana, Idaho and a lot from Canada.
Happy trails..........................

We go to Lake Panasoffkee, FLA and stay at Countryside RV Park. The rate is $240 plus elect. if you stay 3 months or longer. We'll be there Nov.1 to April 1st this winter, then I'd like to go west next winter. We do plan to move off the site for a week, once in a while this year.

Are you staying in Florida for the winter? If so where have you been looking?

We stay in Naples, Fl. There are several RV communities there. Some are 55+ but only a couple I think. Several require you to purchase your lot and there is at least one down there that if your unit doesn't cost at least $500k, you can't get in. Obviously, we can't get past security in that park. We are in an older park, but we absolutely love it there.

Yes we will be staying in Florida. We would love to go somewhere other than Florida during those months but it would have to fit into the kids school breaks. We planned on going to TX last year but the camper was stuck in service for months on end.
The boys want to check out Lion Country Safari down on the east coast. Has anyone been there before - any feedback? I have been looking into the Keys and the panhandle area. I want to try out Topsail - everyone says it is a must see. If anyone has any suggestions for campgrounds that are pet and children friendly I would love to hear them.
We are members of Thousand Trails. We are planning on checking out the Peace River park this winter. Need to make reservations now. Right now we are booked thru Thanksgiving on varying weekends at Thousand Trails.
I would appreciate any suggestions that you all have for us

Hi Charlie and Nila,
Sue and loved Tucson, we stayed at Voyager, man what a place!
We traveled all around the area as well.
How is Palm Springs?, I've always wanted to go there.
We should be headed to that area after Colorado and the Grand Canyon.
We plan on leaving in a week or Two.
What did you do in Bensen, I think we stopped there and talked to a crazy guy in a lawn chair, Just sitting in a parking lot with some Coyote sign, he tinted windows I think, gave a story about starting the civilian border patrol or something.
We drove up, and he tried for 2 or 3 minutes to get out of his lawn chair, I thought I would have to pull him out with the truck!
Interesting fellow.......
