memory foam mattress

I can't remember who asked me, but a while back I had posted that my wife and I had added a memory foam topper to our 3400RL bed and someone inquired how we liked it. We didn't have enough experience to say but we just spent eight nights sleeping on it and the improvement is significant. We like it and are considering getting one for our home king bed as well. I was a little worried that I would sink into it but it's really not soft, more like pliable.

We have one in the Montana on our bed and put another on the sofa bed and did not have to replace the mattress that came with it, so it cost us $100 vs. $300 for the sofa bed improvement. We love the memory foam topper and sleep very well on it. You can get them at Costco.

Toolmanroy, when you added it on top of the sofa could you still get your sofa to fold up? I tried a different one (the egg shell kind) and it was too thick to fold up after.

Ours has been a great addition to the rig. Got a California King size topper from Overstock.com for $79, cut off what we did not need and put it in the dogs bed. She loves it as much as we love ours.

We have one on in our home king bed. It was a tremendous improvement over our reg mattress. Just curious... any notice if theirs tends to get a little too warm while sleeping on it in hot weather?

We too put a topper on our bed in the 3400, love it! Got it at Sams club and I think it was $108 for queen size, also I put a mattress zip on cover over the mattress and the topper, no problems with it being to warm now. We bought this camper at the camper show in Ocala, FL, last Jan. while spending our winter down there, we had it only 1 week when a spring came threw the matress! We are not big people, and Keystone replaced it for us, while we waited for the new mattress, we went to Sam's club and got the topper, turned the mattress over and put the topper on it, and WALA it was great! Like it so much came home and got one for the house! I do like the idea of getting one for the sofa, although we do try not to let anyone know that we have room for overnight guest!!!! Just kidding!!!

It is a bit tight, but it did fit and makes the couch more comfy to sit on, as well. We rarely have company in the RV, usually just the grandchildren, so it is not open very much.

As far as warmth, ours came with a mattress cover and I have not noticed it being hot.

Hello...I'm curious if everyone has the 2", 3", or 4" memory foam topper?? I'm undecided. Is everyone ordering the queen size (if you have a queen bed)...does it fit ok or should I order the king and cut it down to fit?

My husband weighs around 205 and feels like he weighs too much for the 2"...like he'll squish it flat and it won't make a difference for him. He hates the mattress that came with the Montana so much that he doesn't even sleep on it...he sleeps on the couch.

We have the 3 inch topper and it works great! Yes the mattress that came in the Montana is not what you could call "Top of the line!" Of all the things that they do to try and cut the cost, I think I speak for most of us when I say, why don't they put in a good mattress? I could do without the toss pillows on the sofa, or the shelf that is next to the stove, that is so high that nothing fits on it anyway, but give us a bed we can get a good nights rest on!

I believe it is a 2 inch that we got at Costco. It is thick enough to make a difference but not so thick we could not get it to fold up in the sofa bed.

Walmart as them for $90.00 it's an 1 1/2 thick. They are sized for the shorter beds, we bought a queen. Like it but it does make it a bit warmer to sleep on the bed.

We also put those skinny little memory foam mattress toppers on our bed and sofa. Got ours at WallyWorld... (cheap ones for about $60 apiece) and we absolutely love them. No more aching hips and the hubby swears it keeps him much warmer.

I, like Dawn would also like to know what thickness you all are using? Our original mattress that came with the rig was "okay" but nothing to write home about, so, what we have done is to switch out the queen mattress from our bed in the house with the one in the monty. It is actually seems to be about 2" longer and a whole lot thicker (So now my sheet fit properly & the extra 2" bring it right up to the dresser when the slide is in, but not to tight). But I still think there is room for improvement, but much more than another 2" will probably be too thick for the sheets cause the mattress is already one of those extra thick ones with the pad on top.

I bought the 2" queen size one and put a 1" mattress pad over it. We just used it recently and it sure made a difference! We have a short queen bed and I left it as is and let it hang over the end of the bed and haven't had a problem with closing the slide.

We put 2 inch memory foam topper on our queen sized bed in our 3400rl and it made all the difference in the world. I'm 6 foot 6 inches tall and weigh in at 250 pounds when I don't follow my dietician's advice. Now down to 230, but even at 250 the 2 inch topper was really good for me. I didnt' sink in enough to bother my sleep.
