Rewarding Band Gig

Yesterday we took the whole band to Indiana to a huge nursing home where our Friends Francis and Sue, who were our Florida neighbors 3 years ago have been placed. Francis had fell and broke his hip and is pretty ornery at times so they put the two of them in the home together. They have a very nice apartment in the home and with their children all near by are very comfortable. The band knew how much we valued their Friendship and all volunteered to travel with us to entertain there. We were warned, now these people are rude, they will only stay a few minutes. The the cafeteria was packed and they brought in more chairs, and no one left. One Lady explained, we leave because they bring in the music they like, not good music like this, that we like. We had a blast, some of the old songs brought tears, but all in all everyone had a great day, and we came away feeling so blessed. Just had to get in here and say something about such a great day, thanks for listening. Happy Trails, Steve and Susie

That's awesome! I'm not all that old, but I can relate. Why no one would poll the residents about what they would want to hear is beyond me. After all, by the grace of God they will one day be in the same position.

I know what you mean. The line dance class that I teach goes to area retirement and nursing homes to dance for them. We always come away with a great feeling and we are blessed to be able to entertain them. They are always so grateful for us coming.

Your good folks. That had to mean a lot to the folks you played for.
