Propane tank question
We have a 2013 Mountaineer 337RET. It has dual 30lb propane tanks in it. 40lb tanks have the same dimensions except the height is roughly 6” higher on the 40 lb vs the 30 lb. it looks like there’s plenty of room for the extra height of the 40 lb tanks, so is there any reason NOT to switch to the 40 lb tanks? I have to buy at least one new tank anyways so the extra capacity wouldn’t hurt.

Some folks have done that. Some of those found they needed to have longer hoses.

Before you purchase those larger cylinders, find someone who has them and make sure you can handle the extra weight of a full one, and can maneuver them into the compartments. Also, that is even more weight you will be carrying in the front of your rig. A 30 lb cylinder when full weighs about 55 lbs, and a full 40 lb cylinder weighs about 70 lbs, and with the extra height, can be that much more difficult to get into the compartments.

Actually, after looking some more, I can easily fit the taller cylinder on the right side, but the left side has the valve and the valve body will interfere with the cylinder. I really don't want to have two different sizes to deal with so I think I'll just stick with the 30lb. Plus the 30lb cylinders are half the cost of the 40lb so I guess there's a bonus there. Thanks to everyone who provided input though.

Hi
I have the larger one on my fork lift. To get it in and out of the upright mount I have to lift the bottom of it to about even with my chest.
It is defiantly easer empty than full. LOL

I have the 40# bottles on my rv. I had to move the regulator but that was easy with some self tapping bolts. As Bob said they are a little heavier but if you can handle them and you camp in cold weather then they are a big plus. It's like caring an extra 20 pounds of fuel or 4.7 gallons of fuel.
