To save some look up time here's the steps for the torque. Torque all nuts to the same setting and in the correct order before proceeding to the next higher torque (I use 25, 60, 115):
1. 20 to 30 ft lbs
2. 55 to 60 ft lbs
3. 110 to 120 ft lbs.
The order for torquing the lug nuts is also different than the order for my TV wheels. For example, assuming you have 8 lug nuts on your TV (I have an '06 Ford Superduty) and 8 lug nuts on the trailer, the order will differ on how to tighten. Starting with the topmost lug nut as #1, then clockwise is #2, then #3, etc. the order for each is:
Trailer: 1, 5, 2, 6, 4, 8, 3, 7
Tow Vehicle: 1, 5, 3, 7, 4, 8, 2, 6
When at a service station and a technician is working on my trailer or vehicle, I do go over these procedures. Some techs do already know them, but some don't.
I like hearing that the tech admitted needing your help. Too many techs make assumptions and it has cost me (and others) in the past. So now I go over things every time.
