We're in Watson Lake, YT

We're spending a couple of nights in Watson Lake at the Downtown RV Park (they should say 'parking lot'). It has simple but very clean facilities and is a real stopover place for rigs. In the morning the lot is empty and by nighttime, it is packed. The signpost forest is just a block away and is really something to see. It is amazing to see what people use to make a sign, pie tins, hubcaps, old tractor seats, plastic lids, buckets, just about anything you can think of. They are quite creative. Not much to do here but laundry and and the Northern Lights show and relaxation.

We drove from Watson Lake to Whitehorse today in beautiful sunny weather. It was 48'F this morning but it is dry (below 20%) humidity so it is not a bitter cold at all. We were one of the last to pull out of Watson Lake and we found out why when we arrived here. The RV Parks are filling up fast even though most of them are just parking lots. Whitehorse has a lot to offer, even a Walmart, and several museums and shows.

Most campgrounds are just under $20.00US per night with full hookups, including cable TV. They are not the many channels that we are used to but it is nice to have. We are seeing more and more people for a second and third time so it is good to see familiar faces.

We visited with one fellow who had ripped his air conditioner off the top of his Big Sky because of a mismarked overhang. Adversity draws folks together, I guess.

The scenery on the drive today was beautiful again with many lakes and mountains. It doesn't seem like too many people are fishing but the lakes are beautiful to look at. We didn't see any wild animals today but apparently there are more in Alaska itself. We're looking forward to a little R & R while we're here and I should be able to update our blog. http://bamatravelers.blogspot.com
