Recommended glue to fix cracked kitchen sink cover
The slide outs were closed so I crawled over the kitchen counter to get into the living room. I put too much weight on the cover that goes over the kitchen sink and cracked it. Just wondering what glue you recommend to repair it.
Thanks!

If crack is on the underside, I would try Gorilla Glue.. If on the top, maybe one of the many brands of a clear opoxy.

I think you have Corian sold surface counter tops. Special glue is made for it. Go to a custom cabinet shop and ask them. If it’s glued right your top will be stronger the new. We have the solid surface tops in our they are made of several pieces of the material and you cannot find where they are glued together. A lot of the McDonald restaurants it. They are all made of several pieces of material. Go see if you can find where the are put together.

I don't know what it was but am pretty sure our 2008 3400RL didn't have Corian counter tops. Our 2012 did though.

My 2001 2955 had solid surface or Coring tops. The trade name for Corian is solid surface.

just to clarify, it's not the countertop that cracked. It is the piece that goes over the sink.

If you can find Corian (or Dupont) joint adhesive that's what you need. Where they have it, colors are usually available for a match.

on my unit the covers were mdf with a coating on it... it was cracked around the edges when i bought the unit.
this irked me so i obtained some 1" butcherblock and used the existing covers as a pattern to cut the block to size. i rounded the edges out with a roundover bit and not only does it look nice, but it is a functional cutting board.
important to note is that the cover is no longer flush with the counter, it now sticks up 1/2 inch.
happy trails!

That is Corian. It can be easily fixed. You will need the proper color adhesive from DuPont and a mixing tool. You glue it together then sand both sides down with course wet or dry the smooth paper until you get the finish you are looking for. Then finished you won’t be able to find the break and it will be stronger the new.

Here's a picture of the counter itself. The sink inserts aren't in there but appear to be made of the same material.

Dave, take it to a cabinet shop and hand it to the owner and say “please fix this” call me when it is done. I am sure DW is giving you a hard time about it as it is. If you mess up the repair things will go down hill from there. Don’t ask me how I know about this.

I agree take it to a custom cabinet shop. It will be cheaper than you trying to fix it yourself. The glue and glue mixing tool will cost more than they will charge. If memory serves me the tool was a couple hundred dollars and the glue over $20. Ordinary off the shelf glue will not work. They will glue it together but they won’t hold. I tried it. They just aren’t strong enough.
