You might consider getting two new batteries. It's usually not a good idea to mix and match or add new with older.

The Gm's also have a fuse on the charge line (pin) or at least they did on the 2015's and prior. Popped a few on the 2015 by plugging into shore power prior to disengaging from truck. Haven't had that problem on my 2017 Denali..

Hi

While you all are considering upgrading your battery system I would recommend installing a battery fuse.

I did many years ago and it has saved me a very expensive repair one time.

West Marine

1 terminal stud fuse block M/N 9368895

The fuse cost about $17 and the terminal mount about $28
