Travel Advice, 12/1/17 to 1/1/18

Weather permitting the DW and I are planning to leave Hanover Pa the 1st of December and head south. We have reservations near Vero beach Jan 1. Any suggestions on campgrounds and places of interest between Pa and Fl during the month of December would be appreciated.

If I was me, I would get down to southern VA to get into more likely above freezing temps, at least during travel time, maybe Virginia Beach, then work my way down the coast as you should be able to get reasonable rates at many of the beach areas as you are between prime seasons most of that time other than the Christmas to New Years week. I haven't camped at any of these yet so can't help on campgrounds but from past experiences and/or our planned future bucket list, I would include Charleston SC, Savannah GA, and St Augustine FL. Hit one set of places on he way down and another on the way back home
