Coldest winter we have had in years.
But.
It was 80 degrees on Saturday. Great opening day for youngest grandson's T-ball season.

But then:
Sunday it was mid 20's and sleeting (including thunder sleet

) most all day.

This morning 15 degrees.
That is a 65 degree drop in 36 hours.
Roller coaster temps are normal for this time of year, but this is over doing it a little.

We weren't sure when we took the job in Yuma that we wanted to deal with the heat. This year that was by far the best choice and I feel for those in other places.

Oh-Oh BB-TX, We live in southern California and it's not unusual for Texas to get whatever weather system we just had some days later, unless it diverts north. We just finished a long weekend of precipation (didn't solve our drought) and cold during the time (or what us southern Californians consider cold) and it all started last Thursday. I fear it's heading your way and the places hardest hit were the hilly homes that had fires last year and with all the vegetation gone, many hillside homes are still clearing away the mud before it turns back into hard-pack dirt.

We are then looking forward to a terribly hot summer. They seem to go hand in hand, very cold winter means very hot summer. And mild winter means mild summer.

Yeah I'm getting a little fed up with the wardrobe changes here. One day it's shorts and flip flops the next I need a parka???? Don't remember it getting this cold or getting sleet this late in the year........But I got a plan, we need to put them giant windmills that generate electricity all along the north Texas border. That way most of the year we get electricity from them, but when these polar vortex's come down, we can reverse them and blow it back up north....lol lol

It is 35 right now in Harlingen, TX. Wind chill is 25.

That is a huge swing in temps....we have sure been lucky here in SW Florida this year.

Don't feel real bad. It has only been 8 degrees the last 2 days here in western NY, with 5 below nights.Snowed about 10 inches Sat. night. But hey, the sun is shining now!!!. The good news is I am leaving in the morning for s. California it is supposed to be 75-80 for the next week there.. I am so happy!!! I can't wait.

We left Fla at mid 70s and sun. Spent Sat nite in Georgia and had 70s all day Sun. 70s this am here in NC. BUT!!!, 28 with sleet and ice this afternoon. Possible single digits and snow tomorrow. Came home to make Drs appointment in Durham tomorrow that was snowed out in Jan. I agree with you, I'm tired of this!!!

Let's put this in the proper perspective: So far this winter, Detroit has recorded 6 feet 11 inches of snow and 68 days below freezing. So far, March has come in like a lion (insert your joke about Detroit Lions here), and looks like it may leave the same way. Here's a few other stats: We beat the all time January snow fall record set in 1908. Accumulation of snow this January was 38.9". The average temps during that time period was 16.4 degrees, with 10 days below zero.

Mid 20's? Sounds warm!

I would have thought Detroit had more then 68 days below freezing. Here in central Texas we set a record for the most days below freezing and so far after tonite I believe it is at 65 days. Now granted our below freezing and Detroit's below freezing is 2 different freezings lol lol lol .........but it's still cold for Texas lol lol

Tom-- You got that right to say that 20's sound really nice. It's about 15020* at the present here in Omaha and the wind chill is a minus 5* with anticipated wind chills tonight of -10* but this is feeling like a spring day since it's been down to -12* with wind chills getting down to -30*. They actually cancelled schools here for several days and have had delayed starts by 2 hours a whole lot of days this year. The delays were mainly so the school buses could be run long enough to warm them up when picking up the kids out in the country and around town. It's really goofy this year since we've had temps in the mid 60's for a day or two about two weeks ago and Thursday is suppose to get up to 50* with the high temps bouncing from the 50's down to the 20's for the next week. This is not a good time for those working outside like the mailmen and anyone else working out there. They have had more water pipes rupture in the streets this year than over the last 15 years.

We set a new record low of -21F this weekend and are closing in on the record for snowfall of 100". I have to agree it has been a strange winter for weather. We are going to have 50F this weekend. I am sure we will have some flooding. No snow days for the kids though. They don't believe in them in Montana.

I put on my shorts the first day of retirement. I have one pair of big boy pants. Put them on for mothers funeral. ( FYI she gave me permission to wear shorts)! I care less about weather and more about being comfy. It's been in the 50s here burr... 75 this weekend. I find living in California has its advantages! Lol

You'd think right, however the difference is a lot of our days below freezing were WAY below freezing!

All this winter weather reminds me of camping with the Boy Scouts some years ago.
On cold mornings one of our Assistant Scoutmasters use to stick his head out of the tent and say
" Please Mr. Scoutmaster Make the cold go away" Got the kids saying it and got repeated on every winter camp out for years. Drove every one nuts after a while.

I agree, I'm tired of this, but for us it's the rain. Decided to visit the in-laws in Palm Springs for a few days. Nothing says Spring's almost here like 83 degrees and a slight breeze! Love it! I'm thinking of all my new MOC forum friends and wishing them we'll, really!!!!
