Propane Tank Humming?
I did not find anything specific on this issue, though I seem to recall reading about this before, so here it goes.
The propane tank on my 3400 has begun to "hum" when it is approx. 1/2 full. This is the tank on the opposite side of the switch over valve. I have a red regulator on this tank. I can turn off the tank and the hum stops. I slowly turn it back on and it begins again. When I turn off the gas switch to shut down the water heater the hum stops as well. So it is the flow of the gas from the tank when the propane is in use So any ideas? Would it be the regulator or ?

I have found the hum to be the tank, We have 3 tanks and only one of them will humm on occasion no mater where it is. Seems to hummmm when it is cold. Our red regulator is the new 30psi regulator.

Mine humms sometimes, all I do is turn the switch over to the other tank and then back to the hummer tank, most of the time this works for me, and other times when it gets unbearable is when it's humming a song it that you know.

My propane grill tank hums, too, but it hums "country," while the RV tank hums "classic rock." What a racket...

I imagine the hum is the diaphragm vibrating. Under certain temperature/pressure conditions and whether the tank is full, or 1/2 full probably matters. The propane is liquid, then 'boils off' to a vapor, it is fairly low pressure so that sets up the condition.
Educated guess only...

Dick-- That's not a tick that's the little guy in the tank tapping on the side to let you know he can now see the bottom!

I'll go you one better Ron. Louise just interrupted my "surfing" to tell me about a sound she has been hearing for the last 30 minutes. Being the good husband I am, I went to check and found that the sound was the neighbor's vacuum. LOL

Bill and Angie-- If you can figure out how to get one of your tanks to hum maybe you can form a duet and then head for American Idol! The only thing I can figure out to do is disconnect the tank and go and get it topped off. Maybe something will happen to it then! Have you guys tried to disconnect the tank, remove it from the Monte, shake it a little and tried reinstalling it again? I don't know if that will help but it can't hurt to try!

a quartet sounds great, or even a hummer. thank God there are not Scottish tanks they would probably sound like bag pipes instead of humming .
