TAX Time
Delaine and me were just talking about Federal Tax withholding. We are trying to make sure we give the Government as little as possible durning the year. Would Love to be able to owe the Government about $10.00 on April the 15th. And if you happen to see what Cal. is doing, if you haven't they are sending the State Tax payers a IOU. So I sure don't want a IOU from the Federal Government. I just love to here people say I just got a income tax check from the IRS and they sent me X # of dollars. Do they not know it was their money to start with. Oh well Tax and spend is the game now. GBY....

An IOU from State & Federal government?!?! So, guess who's got YOUR money!!! Now that is sure to instill confidence in the consumer.

We can figure out to within a few hundred dollars what our tax bill will be and adjust our withholding accordingly. WE can never be sure what Helen may make at Disney or what I may make school bus driving but we can get close. We like to have the use of as many of our dollars as possible Rather than have someone else use them. This is the same reason we rarely use a credit card or if we do never charge more than we can pay off at the end of the month. I woud not guage what Calif does as typical as Calif is not even on this planet.

We get close but have paid every year and we keep trying to pay less than a $100.00 dollars. If the Federal Government would pay me interest I wouldn't worry about paying a little extra.
As for Credit Cards I quit paying revolving charges in 1976. We pay our C/C bill in full every month. It really makes no sense borrowing money from a company that charges over 12% and up to let you use their money. Interest rates will kill your budget. And since 1976 I haven't paid interest on a C/C bill. When you really think about it we get a interest free loan from $800.00 to $2,000 a month. GBY....

I have been up and down on tax returns, and this year I'm paying through the nose. (well for me anyhow) Govt. has my money and now they want more. Next year it should be down some. To many combination that when added together throw you into another bracket, I guess.
We use the CC quite a bit and pay it off every month. Since they want to give me $100 back for every $10K, I figure it's not a bad idea. Pack of gum, CC. Bottle of water, CC. you would be surprised how much those little items add up and you get your "kick back," fast.

Since I don't think I'll be appointed to the cabinet, I'll just pay what I feel like on April 15th. I heard it was OK to fudge a bit now.

Looks like that house might make a good office for a charity also. You can do that, pay no property taxes, and still get your appointment.

Better to owe them on 4/15 than the other way around.

I know I will owe them on 4/15. I wonder if they will accept my IOU?

This type of thread seems to only go in one direction...... It does not fit well with the MOC MIssion. It is being closed. There are other Forums that will welcome this sort of thing.
Thank you.
