New Mont HC owner needs Tires
We just Bought two month ago Our First 5th wheel, a Mont.HC 310 What a great rig that we tow with our 2009 Ford F 250 SD, its time to get new tires and I'm looking for a hard wearing tire, the last Firestone didn't do well and with the added load I'm looking for recommendations. mostly highway drive but we do end up in snow some times, any help would be appreciated.

My Montana HC arrived with LR E Rainier tiers. The wheels are rated for 110 PSI. From the dealer to the tire shop for Sailun S637 LR G tires. If your wheels can handle the PSI the Sailun is the only way to go.

I run toyo's from les schwab I have 40,000 miles on them now and will get another 20,000 or so before I change to new ones. I have a 1 ton drw 4 wheel drive chevy that not only pulls the 5'er I do a lot of hunting in so pretty tuff ground. No tire problems ever so I'll stay with what works for me.

Bridgestone Duravis R500 HD hands down...LOVE this tire. Others have had good service from Michelins

I run Michelin. I'm on my third set with 79,000 miles on my Ford F-250 and they are wore out. I understand the Toyos are wearing much longer than the Michelins.

Is that 79,000 on the tires or on the truck? I got near 80,000 on my factory tires! Mike

Depends on speed normally traveled and % of miles with a heavy load along with rotations. I rotate about every 7500 miles. Got a lot more miles when towing an 8500# TT than a 15,000# 5er.

and your OEM tires are....?
My drive axle tires (combined) are 9880# capable...Fully loaded, including pin weight, my actual drive axle weight is 6640#...I'm only 67% of capability, assuming full 80 psi

CaptnJohn, agree with you on how use effects wear. I looked up my records, and my OEM Goodrichs actually went 84,347 miles. They wore evenly and still had about 3/32 tread left. They were only sporadically rotated, but I kept a good eye on air pressure, running at mfg spec when empty and 80 psi when towing 5th wheel. I'm sure the reason they got such good life was because about 90% was running empty, but most likely because most of my miles were hi way miles. I currently have about 35,000 on my Michelins and two of them might make another 5,000 and the others 10,000. These tires have seen about 25% towing. I would have to say that I'm not all that impressed with the Michelins. Would be interesting to see what others with 3/4 ton srw trucks are getting. Mike

I rotated my Michelins ever 5 to 10 thousand miles. About half of the miles are pulling my camper. I drive responsibly but I do drive the speed limit and a lot of time a little over. It's been almost 50 years since I had a speeding ticket and I'm on the third set of tires in 79,000 and the last set is wore out. My first set weren't Michelins so it's not just a Michelin problem. I have the 20 inch wheels and I think they don't wear as well as the 18s.

I have 34,400 on my 9 month old F350. I'll replace the Michelin tires in another 8-10K miles. Only because I'll be pulling 15k # .

Truck came with Duravis 700 (?) only lasted 35k. Hankook ATM10's lasted 45k, Goodyear Armor Tracks now have about 40k and are done. Not sure where to go next.
