What is the difference between the Dometic 310 & 320?

Our current Thetford is 3 years old and still holding water. The one in our last unit went 2 years before the foot pedal came off, $50 bucks for a new pedal. So when this current one acts up it's into the trash and a Dometic put in it's place.

Ours was 3 yrs old when we bought it, no problems but the 320 is much more (man sized)! Best seat in the house!

My neighbor is a mobile tech. He says Thetford makes more than one model but most builders put the light version in to save weight and $$$. He says the 'lite' version is often seen as a disposable. He said the 320 I installed will generally at most see the valve leak. The valve is a cheap easy fix IF it happens.

I am afraid to comment. We have the original in our Mountaineer and it is 4 years old in July and has 20-35,000 miles on it. Only problem is the valve closes slow, so I lube it up with cooking oil and good to go another several months. Knock on wood.
Say, for those that have had them leak all over, is it the valve sticks open and coninutes to run filling the tank and then the bathroom??? Just curious what to look forward to!!!

The 320 also has a "rim" that the 310 doesn't have.

On mine Tom it was the vacuum breaker on the back side wear the water goes into the bowl ever time you push the peddle down water would squirt out I replaced it and then it
wouldn't hold water at least we did not have a flood in the rig! Some people have good luck with them and some don't. I like my 320 better more room.

Your better half will actually like this mod. And don't forget to get the one with the sprayer. Beats using a toothbrush to clean the toilet, lol.

DW's of couse. But be sure to rinse it afterwards, otherwise it would just be gross.

That's hilarious!

By they way, ordered the one without the sprayer, for one, they didn't have one in stock and two, I can plumb it in very easily. Talked to the guys at PPL and said it was easily added, but ended up buying through Amazon as the return would be so much easier if it is broken when it gets here. I believe it is worth the extra $14. Still enjoying this forum even though it costs me money. But it's a wash because I post mods too

I ordered one from PPL last night. My wife said to tell you guys to stop it.

(Wait till she sees the bill for the disc brakes; I suspect I'll be living in the Montana)

It is not how long a Thetford will last, it is how many cycles it will survive. There are many RV's that are only used several weeks per year and a number of them used much more frequently. For the RV's that are seldom used, the original will last them a lifetime but from the information I have gathered from this forum and my own personal experience, I would estimate that about 2 years of use is an average for the original commode.
This forum is a great source of information, much of it is even useful so keep the useful information coming.

Ok. Got a hold of Amazon as they had the one with the sprayer in stock as of today and cancelled the order on the first one and ordered the one with the sprayer. Funny, it will be here two days earlier. Actually I'm hoping they did get the order cancelled so that two of them do not show up at my house.

I've warned mine of the associated cost of the disc brake conversion. If we hadn't already had our son's surgery and my MRIs deductibles paid this year, we would already be stopping quicker

I feel your pain. I just recently had to spend "my disc brake money" on emissions work on my truck.
